Hey guys. So what are you all up to today? I don't think we have anything good planned. I heard Vinnie ask if Jolene wants to go to the mall so I guess we might go walk around there. I would like to venture outside of our little town. Maybe I will talk him into going to Manchester. I want some Hooters wings. And I desperately want to eat something that might make my nose run. Haha..Sounds gross but Im tired of being stuffed up.
Anyways, I know Kae must be in seventh heaven with Nick being home. I hope that the rest of you are having a great Saturday.
It's raining off and on here today. I really ought to clean the turtle tank again, but the little guy really needs a larger space. I may make a run to the pet store.
My husband is down in his basement office, with our dog sleeping nearby. It's quiet...

Ugh more land lady drama. I've come to the point that I don't care anymore. She said everything I've told her have been excuses. So in her book I'm a liar ... don't care though. In fact i want her to think the worst of me. Right now we're having the hardest time finding any open places around here, and now I'm terrified that she won't even be able to return our deposit because when Floyd spoke to her he got the impression that some of her properties were going into foreclosure.
She has no grounds to evict us, but I'm in that .. "I dare you" mentality now. I dare her to do it, because I'll come back fighting, and it will not be good for her. Floyd fell down the basement stairs yesterday because there still isn't a railing. Can you believe that when I called the housing authority they said they didn't know what to do because all they handle usually is people needing rental assistance with payments, and apparently the government program that is supposed to help people in need of that is now on hold! I couldn't imagine how awful it must be for those people who really really need that program. I know when I first got out on my own and was going to college and working but still not making enough, I would have had to quit school and work more hours if they didnt' have that program, now so many other people in this state are in a sad sad predicament.
Anywho, we did find one place and it looks like I'll be trying even harder to get a job, because we are in love with it but they want almost a thousand a month for it. We're kinda in a haggling pattern righ tnow because she didnt' say how much exactly, so we are starting at 750 and working up until she likes the amount. She's going to put the house on hold for us and we don't have to pay anything until we are ready to move in because she is recarpeting the den, and up stairs bedrooms as well as fixing a wall that was damaged when a toilet broke ... I almost freaked until I saw the actual crew coming in with my own two eyes. It was beautiful lol. They were the real deal lol. She grew up in the house and so far we are the only family to whom she will even agree to rent because she wants a family that will take care of it because it has been in the family and holds very many memories. The house is exquisite with newly refurbished floors through out, a balcony and 4 bedrooms 2 bathrooms and an attic that was also redone. It's big enough to be another bedroom or in our case probably a sewing room. There's a fireplace. The lighting in the kitchen is unique and gorgeous and the back yard is fenced in with a garage.
The deal breaker is whether or not I can get a night job, so wish me luck guys. I've applied at 2 places that I know are 24 hour call centers and looking for night workers. I have friends working at both so good reference. I really really really hope this one works out for us. The only reason she isnt' selling right now is the market and she doesn't want just anyone to buy it.
So anyways I'll take pics the next time I get to visit the house lol. Ohhh if we end up getting it we get to pick the carpeting color for the sitting room... which has windows all around to see right out to the back yard so I can still be inside while they are out and watch them.
Ok so drama averted... I think we'll be getting the house!!! Nothing in stone yet. Floyd is getting a huge raise this week, and on top of that we know of 4 managers who have ok'ed his promotion to management.
God really works in mysterious and beautiful ways non? If it weren't for the whole fiasco with this house, Floyd wouldn't have been so down on himself, and wouldn't have had the fire under his tookis to ask about management openings. We wouldnt' hae noticed lthe house that we might be getting ... and we'd be stuck here even longer not knowing how much better things could be. I can't wait to move into this house. It'll be over a month though before we can! We're supposed to look at a few more places, but I don't know how any will compare. I just have to pick out carpeting for the sitting room, and one of the bedrooms upstairs. Any suggestions? I was thinking slate or soemthing kinda greyish, but that also seems kinda dreary. I got to take a look at the house in open daylight today. It's struly a dream. It was one of the Sears Roebuck houses. I didn't know they made them this nicely. Of course the family has invested a lot into it. Oh and get this. The upstairs bathroom has a tub with the clawed feet. Absolutely gorgeous... anyways I called about another which has me kinda excited as well. Apparently the house was modeled from an appartment someone had in Tokyo. Now My first thought is it's going to be tiny with lots of hidden storage. Probably not what we'll want, but will be loads of fun to check out for the architecture and design aspect. I love looking at unique houses.
Jessica I am glad to hear that things are working in your favor. And good for Floyd for getting stuff done. I hope that you get that house and get out of the one you are in.
Moore did the sun ever come out down there. It remained hidden hear for the most part but thankfully we were spared rain...
Jess if you don't think you'll get your security deposit back, then move out and not pay the last month's rent. I did that once in an apartment that had a bunch of problems....
Good luck with everything
Shelly, how are you feeling
Kae is your son home??
No to gray carpet, we had it once, it just looks dull all the time
Shelly, the sun finally came out late afternoon, and it was really nice here. Then, a cold front moved in last night, so it's chilly today.
The best shade of carpet I ever had was something called parchment. It wasn't as dark as a beige, but was a rich, deep cream (more beige tones though than yellow). NOTHING showed! White lint disappeared into the paler shades of the pile, and the occasional muddy footprint also disappeared into the deeper shadows of the cream color. It was light enough to be cheerful.
We yanked up our wall-to-wall carpet years ago, but in some rooms I've had different area rugs, over the years, that were similar to the parchment. It goes a bit against logic because you'd think that this lighter color would show everything, but it's actually quite the opposite. Darker carpets show every little piece of anything that falls, almost like a backdrop to highlight whatever else is on top of it!

It's Sunday now, but rather than start a new tread...
Moore's right about the carpet colour, Jess. Go with an oatmealy shade. The grey will look dull and depressing, and with so many different shades of grey out there, you might find it will clash with whatever other colours you introduce. I have some downstairs in an oatmeal (well, at least until the plumbers ripped it up) and it's the most forgiving ever.
Yep, Nick is home, all in one piece, no tattoos, just a new ear piercing. He and Laura called a hiatus from their relationship a couple of weeks before he came back, no surprise there. It's not easy being on that kind of adventure with the same one person. If there were any cracks before, it couldn't survive, and it didn't.
Later this afternoon, the tribe is coming over for steaks. No fussing though. Nick went out partying last night and hasn't come home yet (it's 1 p.m.) so he seems to be enjoying his homecoming. Just a year ago, I would have been worried sick. Not now, lol! Air Canada just delivered his backpack that had been sent to San Francisco by mistake. Pretty good service.
I'd better get cracking and peel some potatoes, wash the lettuce, and oh, get dressed. Lazy morning here.
Kae I am so glad to hear that Nick made it home safe and sound. I guess I am sorry to hear about his girlfriend but it sounds like maybe this wasn't such a horrible thing. At least for the time being.
Moore happy to hear that you got some sun, even if it meant cold came your way. The sun stayed hidden today though it only sprinkled for a few minutes.
Had a ladies luncheon at church today. Made a berry-peach cobler that was a huge hit. What did you all do today?
