Absolutely ADORABLE! And that's all THREE of the babies, including the grown-up son! The littler ones are SO cute, and are making me long for grandchildren of my own. Lucky KaeEll...
By the way, I love the monochromatic beige walls and beige couch together. Very serene, and elegant!

Vanessa turned 3 two weeks ago, Shelly. Her "ballet" class is really silly. There is no barre or mirrors and the teacher called first position "pizza slice" for heaven's sake. If you're going to teach children ballet, it's no harder for them to accept the proper terms than it is for them to use silly names they're supposed to be able to relate to. It's just a weekly excuse to dress up in that outfit.
A proper dance class would be wonderful for all little girls to teach them poise and posture. Jolene might not take to it as many other little girls don't, but it would give her a good sense of body position and gracefulness, at the very least. If you're lucky, a handy ballet class would have a qualified dancer as instructor who has respect for the art form. Pizza slice...*shudder*.
Two little girls at church do a ballet class at some rec center here in town. I am almost more interested in getting her into a gymnastics class. Its kind of a compromise for me and Vinnie between dance and sports. Haha. I guess around here kids can't do sports until they are older anyways. But anyways, the little girls at church I guess love it. And I think they told me it was only 60 bucks for 10 weeks. Not bad I don't think
Gabi has been in ballet three years, I don't believe they used proper terms the first two. But this year they are. The older girls are very excellent dancers, so I guess they found what works.
My experience tells me that if you treat kids like they're stupid, they'll act stupid. There's no more complex cognitive skills involved in understanding the classical terminology rather than baby talk. Nit picky, I know. But it bothers me.
It's one thing to use "pizza slice" as a memory aid, quite another to CALL first position that. It's that dumbing-down that is the worst of it.
Cute photos. Bethany started dance class this year. I love her instructor. She's just great with the kids. And for 30.00 per month she gets tap/ballet/tumbling and it's 45 minutes every wednesday. They do use the proper terms in her class. I coudln't imagine somthing like pizza slice for first position, but I took dance when I was young and I guess I'm a bit biased. Tap is a load of fun. Everyday before class they go to the end with the raised stage and do some improv tap. I love it when the teacher gets up there and does some tap for them.
Next year I think I've mentioned that Beth will also be taking gymnastics. My aunt will be teaching her. It'll be loads of fun to watch.
I don't know, I think Pizza Slice sounds cute and yummy!
Gabi's teacher has them do alot of stretches and they call them frog and butterfly and cat. Then she used the proper names for some stuff, which I have yet to learn!
But the first two years, when Gabi was 2 and 3, they didn't do all the formal terms. I don't know what they called them. I think tippy toe, but they did shasay (sp?)
I can't wait for her end of year performance, I'll upload the video to youtube. It's in June, so she has alot of time to learn her routine.
Last year was great. She practised and you could tell the difference between her and the girls whose moms did not take it seriously at all!!
yeah, I think I will do it...I wish I would have gotten her in when her two little girl friends started. But better late then never. And as an only child she always loves when she can play with other children...I need to get her into a swimming class too.
