Thursday

What's everyone up to today? It's cold here and cloudy, just turned the furnace back on. Brrrr.

I have a quiet morning, then have to pick up Mike and his trio partner (the third is living in Vienna and will meet them) at the subway at 1:45, drive them to the airport for a flight to Paris. His beat box trio has a few gigs in a town in the south of France at some music festival this month.

Then I'm off to check up on parents, then a celebratory tea party with Vanessa. She called me late yesterday with the following news: "Nanny, guess what! I pooped in the toilet!!" There are no words, lol. The little chocolate shop on my way over to Tony's house has chocolate numbers and I told my little one that I would bring her the number 3 (she just turned 3 last month) for our festivities. I just love the way Vanessa says "nanny" in her little sing song voice. It's to melt a heart of stone. I'll probably stay until their dinner is over as Tony will be in NYC until later on tonight and d-i-l gets a little frazzled without another adult around during the witching hours. I remember that time of day with hungry kids and things on the stove all too well.

So what's on the agenda for you guys?

I just got back from picking up my cap and gown. Its all really surreal. It seems like i have been working on this darned 2 year degree forever. Between having Jolene and moving around with Vinnie its been a lot longer then 2 years. And now its a little over a week away.

Not much else going on, we got that nasty rain that Tina mentioned the east coast getting. Vinnie says its suppose to stay all week and into the weekend. Im tired of rain.

Kae that is exciting about Vanessa. Sounds like a fun tea party

It's raining here today, although the temperature is decent. It's quiet, and Lucy is napping. (What else is new?!!?)

KaeEll, please give our congratulations to Vanessa! That is a HUGE milestone...

I noticed your comment about driving the entourage to the airport. Is this the same airport that forces you to take the demonic road up in the sky? If so, you have my sympathies, and my best wishes for a panic-free journey!

Shelly -- we're all very proud of you. Good job, kiddo!

Shelly, huge congratulations to you on the graduation! Way to go!! Please post us some pics if Vinnie takes them of you in your cap and gown.

Moore, it's the arrivals level that is way up high, thank goodness. The departures level is much lower, so I should be okay. And Ted said he plans on being back in time, but that's just a back-up plan. Once he gets down to the broadcast centre, there's no telling what will happen. If I had to be driving to the arrivals level, I'd happily use my cleaning lady envelope money for an airport limo, lol. Nothing is worth that torture for me. I'd rather clean the toilets and tubs than make that trek!

thanks to you all for the Congrats, it still seems kind of surreal to me. Im not sure I will know what to do with myself when I don't have to study for exams. Someday I will go for my bachelors but not for a long time I think.

Now i just need a job. And badly

Pretty!!!

Do you want to work on the area where the tulips already exist, or in the grassy area between the tulips and the fence?

I see lots of possibilities!

yeah you could make that whole area a flower garden, but you are renting right?

The tulips are pretty, too bad they only last a short while. I have red ones, which are now being taken over by my lilac bushes. I should take a pic when they bloom! The scent is awesome too.

Im thinking I might make a border. I wanted to put flowers all in there but besides the fact thats a lot of work we still have to be able to get into the area to refill the feeders. I thought about doing that wild flower thing Tina mentioned yesterday but seeds take forever to grow. Oh and behind the tulips i have daffodils. I was bad this year and didnt get those into the ground until January so they all came up late. The daffodils are suppose to be pink and white. I am afraid that since I planted so late that they might not bloom until next year.

Tina we are sort of renting, I mean its Navy housing. But we should be here at least another year and a half. Like I said I may do a border and put some ceramic things in the middle. I really want a bird bath again. And i need to get out the hummingbird feeder

Menards might have some of those flowers, so you wouldn't have to wait for seeds. I got some that are supposed to attract butterflies and hummingbirds.

and I think the others the bees would like

I have a pear tree too.

hagaan daas has a website with some bee saving tips, it says they like strawberry plants

I had strawberries at our old house, yummy!

Shelly, yellow would be pretty in that patch, perhaps some yellow and purple primroses and a border of white and pink impatiens. I always like to throw in some white flowers to make the other colours pop and sparkle.

Tina, trust a huge money-maker like the ice cream company to take an interest in the bees when it affects their profits. If they didn't have a vested interest in what happens to the crops of berries, bet your bunnies they wouldn't give a rat's ass what is happening to the poor bees.

Oh, Shelly -- my creative juices are flowing! I'm going to spend some time contemplating your picture, and will get back to you on this...

(I know you don't want to spend a lot.)

maybe walmart? I got my veggies from them, but didn't look around at the other plants

we had a bush once that attracted butterflies and it was the coolest thing, I hope these new flowers do as they promise, Gabriella is excited to see butterflies in the yard

If I can weigh-in my opinion on colors, I love reds and purples!!

You can put these tall things in the middle called Canons, and maybe some sunflowers (bees like those) then work your way down in size ... that would look cool. That's alot of digging though! smile.gif
