music at wedding receptions

why do they always play the same old crap: YMCA, Celebration, Electric Slide, Macarena????

Are there not several decades of good material they could use? Is it just me that hates those songs and each and every reception?

Anyway, had to vent.

We went to my cousin's reception and I hate those songs. I specifically told my DJ not to play them. Can't recall if he listened to me or not.weirdface.gif

I actually like them because I love a good beat and love to dance

yes they have a good beat, but I've been hearing them at every reception for - well more years than I want to say. I just think there are so many other choices that are good dance tunes, say from the 90's. I think 70's songs are so obnoxious. Most anyway.

I guess this just shows my youth, but I wasn't a child of the 70's. That may be why I like it. And the Macarena for the most part was a 90's song.
