The Democratic Party is going to try to sort out the headache created by Michigan and Florida.
The rules committee meets this weekend to decide what to do with the delegates from those states. Michigan and Florida broke party rules by moving up their primaries and as punishment were stripped of all their delegates. It was made clear to them before they changed the primary dates that is what would happen.
Party lawyers say the DNC has the authority to seat some of these delegates, but not all. They say seating half of the delegates is quote as far as the committee can legally go. And, once the committee decides how many of the delegates to seat then they need to figure out how to divide them between Clinton and Obama. Could be a long weekend.
It becomes pretty tricky when you consider that in Michigan, Barack Obamas name wasnt even on the ballot. Its also important to note that both candidates signed a pledge not to campaign in either state and agreed the primaries should be invalid if the states changed the dates. Senator Clinton appears to have forgotten this
Clinton is hoping the committee will seat as many delegates as possible, so she can narrow the gap with Obama and then try to persuade superdelegates to side with her. But the fact is that even if the delegates are fully restored, it wont be enough for her to overtake Obamas lead.
Meanwhile, a Florida court has thrown out a lawsuit challenging the partys decision not to seat the states delegates. The judge sided with the Democratic Party, saying that political parties have the right to make their own rules. Its the second lawsuit in Florida protesting the DNCs decision to be thrown out of court.
Heres my question to you: What should the Democrats rules committee do about Michigan and Florida?

I've tried to like the woman, and I do think that she's very charismatic, but that's not enough for me! I don't trust her, and I don't believe what she says. It must be a problem that runs in the family because her husband obviously has trouble with telling the truth too.
I really don't want The Clintons, Part II...

Moore thank you for saying what I always think. I hated Clinton part 1, don't know how I could handle Clinton part 2. At this point I am torn, though if I go with Obama Vinnie will cancel me out. I am a little weary myself of voting for anyone with absolutely zero military experience
I was a fan of Clinton Part 1, but I'm definitely not a fan of Part 2. I don't like what she has to say which is unfortunate, because a couple of years ago, I was looking forward to her running. That being said, I'm not entirely in the Obama camp either. He's endearing and charismatic to me, but I'm still not sold on the fact that he's got substance behind his speeches.
Part of what unsettle me at the moment is that Obama appears to have the nomination in hand, but he's having to spend so much energy fighting Hilary, that he can't yet turn his attention fully to McCain. I wish this Democratic charade would end soon. I'm become upset with the whole situation.
One thing I can tell you, this democrat will take a long hard look before she places her vote at the polls this november.
when all else fails just vote for the independent candidate. There is always at least 1 name on the ballot who is not at all known.
I am still unsure of my vote, I like Obama and don't really want another 4 years of Bush. But at the same time I think its important when we are at war to have someone with experience in war and/or military. Which neither Dependant candidate has.
Here's me up in the middle of the night again, and yep, Jojo, I understand what you're saying about Kerry. Anyone might have been better than Bush, but Bush is what the world got, God help us all, this time around
All I can say here is as the price of oil goes up and people pay more at the pump, I give McCain's chances of winning a smaller and smaller percentage.
