King dethroned, taken off contract Posted Sunday, June 01, 2008 6:17:30 PM by Dan J Kroll
Little-used GH actress Kent King has been bumped to recurring status. The actress, who joined GH after a short stint on the GH spinoff, Port Charles, has also apparently been scrapped from a second season of another GH spinoff, the primetime drama, Night Shift.
Kent King (Lainey Winters) has been taken off contract with General Hospital.
The news of King's demotion should not come as a surprise to regular GH viewers. The actress has had limited airtime and little in the way of meaningful story during her three years with the ABC soap.
There had been speculation that King's character might be written off the canvas so that she could be featured in GH's primetime spinoff Night Shift, which begins taping a second season later this year.
However, soapcentral.com has learned that King has not been contacted about joining the Night Shift cast.
King joined the cast of General Hospital in April 2005. She appeared previously as Imani on the GH spinoff daytime drama series, Port Charles.

This isn't a surprise in the least. But it still stinks. There was a lot of potential with her character. I hope that the actress gets snatched up fast by another show.
