I need Roger Howarth

If we have Susan haskell back, then we need Roger back too. TSJ is too young looking to play this part. both Kassie and Susan look older than him. And he just doesn't have the same chemistry that Roger had with Susan.

Oh, don't even get me STARTED...!!!

(Moans, wails, pounds fists on wall...)

Definitely need Roger Howarth back. These scenes with Marty should be powerful, accomplished through RH's subtle facial expressions that say everything. He always leaves me with the impression that, physically, he's about to explode with emotion, but works to contain it. Sometimes he fails, but when he holds it all in, you can believe that it's physically painful for him to do so. That's Todd!!!

Instead, what we have with Marty's return is Todd-the-wimp.

SHOOT ME NOW!

Roger and Susan had some great scenes together, years after the rape, they came to some sort of understanding. You can watch them on Youtube.

And so we are missing all that history between them. TSJ has a lack of experience I guess you could say.

Roger always looked mean, and yet you just knew he had a soft side. And that came out with Marty and Starr. But the latest writing is making him just a volatile asshole. I can't picture Roger beating up a teenager or pushing Starr down the stairs.

Maybe he'll come back. We've got Andrea and Susan...

TSJ is one of the reasons I can't sit through more than 5 minutes of most episodes of OLTL now.

You know, I still disagree. It has nothing to do with Trevor St. John, the writers have managed to write him into the wimp corner. Even Roger Howarth wouldn't be able to make this look good.

While I do miss Roger I have to agree with Brandon in that its the writing that made Todd beat up a teenager, not the actor...The actor is just the one who made has made the role so emotionless

That's okay, Brandon. We can agree to disagree! [Shelly, I signed off before I saw your post!]

I sometimes think that the writers begin to write to an actor's personality, and I think that this may be the case with TSJ as well, even if it's done unconsciously. Nevertheless, I do still believe that Roger Howarth could have delivered those same lines today with a more menacing quality, or at least with more layers behind the lines. It may have been bad writing, but it also might have been a bit more interesting to watch.

TSJ just continues to look bored with it all, and that just irritates me!

I'm with Moore on this one. Not only does he look bored, he looks quite pleased with himself.

A Howarth FIX

Here's a YouTube clip of Roger Howarth at the Emmys with his little girl, and his wife. (Don't know where his son was.) They're being interviewed on the red carpet by Rebecca Budig, "The Real Greenlee"...

I often wonder if actors have any influence over the writing. For example, Maybe Roger would say, "I won't do that" (beat up cole).

I'm sure they have some say- so, but I don't know how much.

TSJ is actually doing a good job lately of playing what he thinks Todd is. I mean they're finally writing him like the bastard he is and he's playing it that way but that's just it he's doing what he thinks he should do as that version of Todd. Roger just was Todd....he intrinsically knew the character. Its like he immersed himself in him.

This guy God Bless him is still just "playing" at it.
