Happy Saturday!

Hi everyone! How is everyone's weekend shaping up? I'm sorry that I have been so MIA. What can I say, the usual reasons, work, and then more work. I am trying to put in some summer hours, with only 50 hour work weeks.

I was without internet service for the last few weeks, but after five technicians coming out to the house, yesterday's guy figured it out. The wires coming into my house were bad. It should have been figured out at the first service call, but I'm just glad that they finally figured it out, and I'm back to a normal service level. It really sucked, because I had to put in 12 hour days in the office, because I could not sign in from home.

I picked myself up a new personal computer. I snagged a Dell laptop, from Staples. It ran me $699.00, and it is amazing. It has Windows Vista, and I'll tell you I really like Vista. It took a few days to figure out all the changes, but now that I have, I am loving it.

I am going to try to take the weekend off, and catch-up on stuff outside at the house. I have some shrubs that need a serious trim.

Anyway, Happy Saturday!

Sophia

Hiya Tess! So nice to see you again. Isn't it amazing how dependent we all are on darn wires? One little problem and our lives are thrown out of whack. Our ancestors must be getting a good chuckle out of this from on high, lol.

We're taking it very slowly and quietly this weekend. Ted has to be in the hospital for 6 a.m. Monday, surgery at 7:45. Please keep a good thought. His surgery is called a Carotid Revascularization Endarterectomy, basically reaming out the artery. It's not an unusual procedure, but still on the scary side. We both will be very relieved when this is all over.

Tess, we really missed you! Thank heaven you got that computer issue resolved, and now have a new toy.

I was thinking about you again just recently because one of my long-time friends rented a house in Ireland for the month of June. (Can't remember where, but can dig out an old email...) She's had family and friends join her over there (invited us too, but we couldn't do it), and she's having a wonderful time. I think it's safe to say that she's completely fallen in love with Ireland!

KaeEll, we're all holding good thoughts for you and Ted. I'm certain that this will go very smoothly, but of course the anticipation is very stressful. It will be wonderful to get this behind you both, and to have Ted feeling perkier again!

Enjoy your lovely, quiet weekend.

Kae, I will keep both you and Ted in my thoughts and prayers! Moore, I'll bet that they are having a ball! My parents let my brother's boss and his wife have their house in Ireland for a month, while he was on leave from Iraq. It was their 25th wedding anniversary, and my brother thinks the world of him.

My brother is actually wrapping up his leave with his family, and leaves tomorrow morning at 4am to return. My parents went to see him for a few days, and his family went to Disney Land for a week. He should be home from this deployment around Thanksgiving. While he was at Disney, the army tracked him down. He is a commander of a battallion with around 1,000 soldiers. One of the conveys was struck, and 18 soldiers were hurt, and one killed. Unfortunately it was not the first time that his command has lost soldiers. They are in Kirkuk, which is a really tough area.

My daughter and her boyfriend are splitting up, and she called me this morning to tell me that she had a few appointments to go apartment shopping. We surfed the net, and a few hours later she was looking at condos. She just put in an offer on one that was foreclosed on. The mortgage, taxes, condo fee and insurance will be cheaper than rent on a one-bedroom apartment. It also has heat and hot water included in the condo fee. I'm going to give her the down payment, and co-sign if she needs one. So she is attempting to start her real estate portfolio at the tender age of 22. She has done tremendous at her job, and last month got a wonderful promotion. We shall see, I made her go look at other condo's before putting in an offer, because I was nervous that she is jumping quickly, but she fell in love with it, the price was reduced $47,000 yesterday to $80,000 so off she goes. The banks are trying to unload foreclosures.

Hi all!

I will keep you and Ted in my thoughts Kae. It never matters how common a surgery procedure is, it's still scary!

I'll keep your brother in my thoughts too, Sophia. I hope deeply for his safe return home.

Your daughter is buying a condo at 22? Good for her! I wish I could do something like that, but I'm unable to.

I'm just tidying up the apartment while I wait for my co-worker to call about when what time we're doing dinner and a movie tonight. I think we're seeing the new Steve Carrell flick, Get Smart.

Thanks for the good wishes, guys. They are very much appreciated.

A condo for $80K? Wow! That's an amazing deal!! I'm afraid you couldn't buy a parking space for that here. Crazy real estate prices! We just went to an open house around the corner from our place and the little bungalow on the ravine is selling at lot value for $589,500. It's not really a tear down, but it would have to be completely gutted, top to bottom. I don't think you could get away with a dime under $200,000 in renovations to bring the house up to modern standards. In the end, you'd still be looking at over $700,00 for a 3 bedroom bungalow, and not within walking distance to the subway. For that amenity, add another $250,000 to the asking price, at least.

So good for your daughter, Tess! I'm sure she wouldn't like to be in the market for a house or condo in Toronto, lol.

Jojo, the reviews for Get Smart have been terrible! Let us know if you liked it.

Hey ladies, Tess so nice to see you around again. I hope that you can manage to pull off those 50 hour weeks you mentioned. That still sounds insane to me but I guess it would be better then what you have been doing. And seriously, good for your daughter. We are actually talking about buying at our next home, not sure where that will be yet.

Kae I am sending a prayer email for you to our church right now, that way since I am in the nursery tomorrow they will still bring it up.

Anyways, I have a horrible migraine and am off to take a shower. Hopefully it makes it go away
