That IS interesting. A couple of summers ago, I broke down and bought myself a pair of those "sensible" sandals with all the arch support - like a Birchenstock (sp?) but from Finland. Ugly things, clunky, definitely not sexy little summer espadrilles like I wore for years. And they made ALL the difference in the world!! Of course, I still keep a few pairs of cute shoes in the closet for going out, but I can't wait to get them off my feet the minute I walk in the door.
there is a new flip flop that came out with Victoria Secret called Fit Flop. I love flip flops but these shoes are 50 bucks. A bit much for such a small shoe. I may go buy them though.
kae I use to wear birkenstock type shoes when I was much younger. Though I think there was a time when they were the in shoe, they are also pretty expensive
I go barefoot! I know the report said that it's not good because it leaves you open to cuts, but another very recent report said that going barefoot is better for your feet.
Whichever report is correct, I've gone barefoot my whole life (whenever I can/could get away with it -- not in the law office where I used to work, except when my feet were hidden under my desk), and I have very health feet! No bunions or fallen arches... And, walking in the sand on the beach is great! It's a good workout for the feet.
If I have to go out, I'll slip on some flip-flops during warm weather. I take them off in the car (back to the barefoot thing again), and am careful not to slip off the sides. Since I have strong feet -- from all of that barefootedness -- it hasn't been a problem.
When I have to wear flats, they're usually mules, and if forced to wear heels, they're much lower than those I used to wear when I was still part of the working world.
