Good morning everyone! I am trying to find the motivation to get going for another day at the office. Yesterday was an incredibly long day at the office. The day crawled. I believe my favorite phrase for the day was that I was bored.
I have my clothes ironed, the bed made, the kitchen floor is swept, and I'm sitting here on the couch. Darn, it really is time to really start thinking about finding a new job....
Anyway, how is everyone, and what are you all up to, on this Tuesday morning?
Tess, I'm with Brandon. You're up WAY too early!!! LOL... Just reading everything that you managed to accomplish before 6:00 a.m., is almost enough to send ME back to bed!
Our daughter arrived safely in Arizona last night, and we miss her terribly. My husband was in a real funk last night! They've been on many a road trip together when they listed to their assorted music, and one of Jim's favorites which he always associates with this daughter is "Wide Open Spaces". Yeah, my husband listens to the Dixie Chicks! He has very eclectic taste in music. Everything from Beethoven to country to sixties classics to Michael Buble to ... well ... the Dixie Chicks. And, pretty much everything else in between.
Anyway, he'd been listening to his iPod yesterday just before he took our daughter to the airport, and it randomly selected "Wide Open Spaces", and that just made him a mess!
Many precede and many will follow A young girl's dream no longer hollow It takes the shape of a place out west But what it holds for her, she hasn't yet guessed
Chorus:
She needs wide open spaces Room to make her big mistakes She needs new faces She knows the high stakes
She traveled this road as a child Wide eyed and grinning, she never tired But now she won't be coming back with the rest If these are life's lessons, she'll take this test
*** Yep, he was a mess, but then we both get blue when our son is over here for dinner, and then drives away at the end of the evening, and HE lives only ten minutes from here, so Jim and I are both hopelessly pathetic...!!!
Today (and tomorrow, and the rest of the week), I'm working on yet another dollmaking deadline, and as usual, it's coming up much more quickly than I thought it would! How did that happen???

Oh, Moore, I know how you and Jim feel. It's so hard saying goodbye to our kids, and it never gets any easier. The only thing that really makes it better is when they bring their little ones with them, and after 3 hours, you're delighted to see their car pull out of the driveway, lol.
Ted and I are just so grateful to have all 3 of our sons in the same city, and working together in the same office! It sure beats having them all over the planet. All of them have been far away for extended periods, all have chosen to settle in Toronto. I don't think they would have been content if they'd never seen the rest of the world first, before making that decision. Mike has even just given up his downtown apartment in favour of one in Bloor West Village, five minutes from Tony and ten from us here and Nick down on the Lakeshore.
Sophia, your days start so early. Sheesh. When do you sleep?
Ha! My alarm clock goes off at 3:30 am, and I try to get up by 4:15. I then make coffee, play with the dogs, and then iron my clothes. Then it's into the shower, and the whole makeup, hair routine. I do not move fast in the mornings. Even if I got up later, I still can't get myself moving any faster.
I have to drive 55 miles towards Boston, so it is really critical to get on the road early, to attempt to miss most of the gridlock traffic. If I can get out of the house by 5:45, then I can usually be at my desk for 7:00. My team, and the rest of the office are usually there by 9:00, and in a normal day, I have anywhere between four and six hours worth of meetings. Those first couple of hours are when I can try to get caught up on emails, and stuff that my team needs to do their work for the day.
Would you believe that we have wireless in the office, and when I go to meetings, I have my laptop, and instant messenger is up. So I try to interact with the team by IM, and answer emails at meetings, if I am not a main participant. I have a big breakfast at the office, because I don't have time to take a lunch break. I'm usually lucky if I can find the time to go get a soda.
Work is very insane. I have broken myself of the habit of turning my laptop on at 4:00 am, to check my emails, I only do that once a week these days. You should hear the comments I get from people when they get those 4 am emails.
Work has actually let-up significantly this summer, I was working 60-70 hours a week for six months straight. It was great for the bank account, since I'm paid hourly, but not so good for the person. That's why last week was so great for me to only work four hours, and be able to take care of stuff around the house, that I had not been able to even think about taking on.
I even find some time to spend with my internet friends these days, which I really enjoy!
Have a great night!
I'm usually asleep by 9:30, if I have a problem falling asleep then I take something to knock myself out, I really do not function well with less than six hours sleep.
Yeah, when I reread my synopsis of my work day it really does sound insane! I don't plan on keeping up this pace forever. I just want to try to get money in the bank, and hopefully get the house paid off, then try to enter into my next career phase.
There is no work closer to home, and I really love my little house. Also, real estate is outrageously expensive the closer you get to Boston. I don't want to take on a significant mortgage at this juncture of my life. My family and friends are also all from around the the area that I live in. I'm also central to Providence and Hartford from where I live, they are actually closer than Boston.
