Thursday!

Have we all been having the rainiest summer ever? Another wet one here today. The lawns look fabulous, but that's about the only up-side I can think of, lol.

Everyone, please send good thought to our Moore - her husband has had a health scare and is under observation at the hospital. I'm sure that with all of us directing the universe to watch over them, he'll be home and fine in no time.

Ordinary stuff going on here today. Mike and his visiting Kiwi friend are going to Niagara today, didn't work out for yesterday, so I'll be using the non AC'd van for my trots around town later on, giving my car to the kids for their journey. Ted refuses to replace the air conditioning in the 9 year old van, not that I can blame him for not wanting to throw money into that thing, but when I get stuck with it, and the humidity is this high, OY!

So what's up, kids?

Another work through lunch day but we've addressed the issues that caused our problems, only took 'em two days. Did I ever mention I despise working through lunch whether they bring it in or not?

KaeEll, thank you so much for the positive thoughts. They worked! I brought Jim home about three hours ago, and he seems to be okay.

To update everyone -- Jim has been under a LOT of stress, especially at the office, but also with his sideline job, and...well...half a dozen other things! Anyway, he had an early morning yesterday, and it began under stressful circumstances. By the time his early commitment was over (also involved his boss), and he arrived at his office, he wasn't feeling well.

He went to the clinic in his building, and they did an ekg. That was normal, but his blood pressure was high, and so was his heart rate. They made him rest for about thirty minutes, and took his vitals again. Still high...

He decided that he didn't want to risk having some emergency situation in downtown DC, and preferred to head back to Virginia to see our doctor. They did a second ekg (normal), but the blood pressure and heart rate were still high, so he was admitted to the hospital, and spent the night there last night.

By the time I left him, his blood pressure was down a few points, but was back up again this morning.

At about 8:30 a.m., he had a gamma test. Doctors injected dye into his system, and then he spent about twenty minutes in a machine similar to a CT device. Then, he did a stress test, they injected more dye, and back into the machine he went... His heart looked fine.

After that, he had an echocardiogram, and again his heart looks fine.

His blood pressure is still elevated, but it isn't in a dangerous category, thankfully... So, they sent him home with some low-dose blood pressure meds, have put him on a low sodium diet, and he's going to stay home resting/chilling for the next ten days. He's also going to drop a few pounds.

It was a scare, but hopefully this will get things under control. He needs to decompress, and he REALLY REALLY needs to get rid of that **@# ! Blackberry!!! As our doctor explained, sometimes when a person has been under stress for an extended period of time, the adrenline pump can kind-of get stuck in the "on" position. If we can get his stress level down, his salt intake down, and other stuff, it ought to help. Otherwise, he appears to be healthy.

Whew...!!! However, I'm keeping a close eye on him...

Moore, that's why we call those damn devices "crackberries". They're horrible things, so addictive and never leave you alone to contemplate navel lint. So glad to hear hub's great news! I still think you need to go to a lake and veg out!

I had a crappy afternoon. The cleaning lady showed up late, as usual. I had to run out and buy my mother another eyebrow pencil - 4th one now. She keeps throwing them away and using lip liner pencil. Burgundy eyebrows one day, dark pink another. Then, rushing Maria out the door because I had a dentist appointment, raced like a crazy person to get there on time, they kept me waiting half an hour. Then I got a $30 parking ticket for an expired meter. So then I nipped over to son's house to cuddle the babies. That should have been a nice anti-dote. Nope. Kids were in rare form, d-i-l in a mood, Ted phoned me and he was still at the office! He was supposed to meet me at Tony's house and we were to drive down to pick up the new coffee table. I told him I was going home to order in food, and he could take the bus from the subway station.

Food is on the way - 2 orders of veal picatta, bruschetta and house salad. I'm having a glass of sherry, feet up. Blech day. Oh, and I got caught in a downpour. This will be known for ever as the bad hair summer.

Moore, Thank God that he is alright! I can only imagine how you must have felt. I'll say a special prayer tonight!

KaeEll, We have been stuck in rain here in Massachusetts for the last three days! Thank goodness I had last week off. I just completed my fourth bad commute home this week. Tonight's only took 1 hour and 45 minutes. Argh.... That's taking an alternate route to avoid traffic. I am getting a GPS unit for the car, and I'm just going to point the darn vehicle in a direction opposite the highway, and let it take me through back roads to avoid the highway. Tonight it took me 45 minutes to go four miles on a gridlocked highway, before I could get on the alternate route to avoid most of the traffic. I know there are back roads I can cut across, I just don't have a clue!

Anyway, thank goodness tomorrow is Friday! I am going to leave the office by 2:30, I have a 4:00 appointment to get my hair done close to home. These brown roots will be gone tomorrow!

Have a great night!

Sophia

KaeEll, I'm sorry about your horrible day, and it was certainly exactly that!

Tess, the only time I've had the chance to use a GPS was in a rental car, and I LOVED it!!!

Jim went upstairs for another nap, and I have to say that I'm a bit worried. While he was still at the hospital, he complained of a headache, and they gave him an aspirin. Of course, that's not unexpected after all of the stress, and he hasn't eaten much.

Late this afternoon, he complained that his headache was still present, so I gave him one of those baby aspirin that he'll be taking anyway while we get a grip on his high blood pressure. We ate dinner, and shortly after he finished eating, he said that he was going to take another nap because his headache was back.

I told him to tell me IMMEDIATELY if it becomes any worse. But, I don't think that I like this...

Watching closely.

Hey everyone.

Kae, many hugs and fuzzes for the terrible day!

Moore, I'll keep the hubby and you in my thoughts. How scary, and I do hope the headaches go away. I know how it is when a loved one has a health scare and all you can do is sit and watch.

It's been raining here too a lot. Uggh. I'd like to have a day at the park, but at this rate, that's impossible!
