Hey guys, wanted to pop in and say hello. I am still in Phoenix but we leave for our long trek back on Wednesday morning. We should be in CT at some point on Saturday. As much as I love being home (in Phoenix) I will be glad to be back in CT. For one thing it is insanely hot here, I don't know how I was able to run around when I was a kid. I would walk for miles and miles in the summer when I was a teen, now the thought of walking to the end of the street in this heat makes me change plans. Its just too hot. Will make me think twice about complaining about CT heat.
Other then that things are good. Spent a lot of time going through fabrics and pattens and will have a few new dresses and other things in a few weeks. I wish I was better at sewing so I could do them all myself.
What has been going on around here? Where is Jess these days?
Hey, Shelly! You have been missed! Yes, Phoenix is hot, lol. Last time I was there in an August, I thought I'd perish from the blasting heat. We do get used to temperatures, don't we?
Who will sew your new dresses? You must send us some pictures of them.
Yesterday, the new landscaper was here at 7 in the morning with his team and by 4 p.m. we had all new plantings on the east wall and a new walkway on the west. It will take a few weeks for the plants to settle in, but what an improvement! To think that 10 days ago that miserable snotty jerk (different landscaper idiot) told me he didn't think it was worth his time to work on such a modest property, that he wouldn't bother trying to make a silk purse from a sow's ear, had me in tears...
Today is quiet until 10, then off babysitting the two little ones for 4 hours while d-i-l has a session at the spa, then picking up Mike and Maya for an airport run (she's flying back to NZ), home for dinner and watering my new plants and grass. We're SUPPOSED to water at 6 in the morning, but, um, I don't think so. I'm lucky to be awake by then, never mind outside with a hose. This new water conservation programme is a real pain, but we're trying. The city will give anyone buying the new front load washers a $160 rebate! We're considering it. Apparently they use less than half the water that the old top load ones do. The water lady from the city that was here last Friday said that they actually pay for themselves within two years. Anybody have one yet? Oh, and my surreptitious watering of the grass routine has been chucked, lol. Remember last year when I used to turn on the hose late at night, propped up against a tree in the front, nosy neighbour would turn it off when he walked his dog, Ted and I accused each other of senility because we both claimed we didn't do it? Bad, bad, lol.
LOL Kae! And that would certainly seem to be the best time to water!
I'm so happy you found a landscaper who wasn't a total jerk! Like someone else said, karma will come back to bite that douchebag.
Shelly, have a safe trip home! It got in the 90s here today I think. I don't do well in heat, LOL. Makes me wonder too how I survived the hot humid Arkansas and Texas summers.
Hey guys, we head out tomorrow for another long drive. The drive wouldn't be so bad if Vinnie would let me drive. Oh well. Thank goodness for messenger huh.
Kae, do they let you water later at night too or just that early in the morning? You would think that they would let you do it at both ends. And those front end loaders are nice. Vinnie got them for us when we moved to Groton, the housing didn't provide the washer and dryers like they did in Maryland. So instead of buying cheap ones he got a credit card from Best Buy and got front end loaders. They are nice though.
