So I have noticed that weekend posts are becoming scarce around here. You would think that everyone was so busy that they don't have time to post. Well I want to know what is keeping everyone so busy. Yesterday I took Jolene to this little man-made lake on the base. It is a lot like an ocean because it has sand, but it is chlorinated so its clean and not salty. It was nice, I feel bad though because I have known about this lake all this time and just finally took Jolene there, she had a blast. And they close after next weekend. Really silly, I mean just because it is Labor Day doesn't mean its so cold that kids don't want to go to the beach. Well we went with 2 other families at church, both of which were daddiless because of military duties. So it was nice for Jolene to be with her friends. I have definitely decided that its time she had a sibling to play with.
So today we had church, and we had a guest song leader. This guy sung back up for Elvis at one point as the bass singer of the Jordanaires. His name is Ray Walker and wow does he have a voice. It was nice. Our small church today sounded like some of the ones on the commercials for those CD's. It was decidedly one of the coolest things that our church has had in awhile.
Don't feel bad, Shelly. I mean, I take Jackson to the park and stuff, but there is tons of stuff to do around here, and I've only taken him to Mount Rushmore this summer.
So,you've decided to have another little one, eh? Congrats, and good luck getting preggo!
I'm just lazy. I'll come on here and see no new posts, and just leave, LOL. Plus, I've been babysitting one of Jack's friends, and they argue constantly. Doesn't leave me much time to myself to really sit and play online. I went grocery shopping today, and rented Jack some Wii games, but that's about it.
Shelly, at least Jolene won't be asking you to please take her back to the lake because once it's closed, that's it. I too wish autumn wasn't so darned rushed upon us. School's back next week, and this week for some kids. I didn't even dust off my flip flops yet this year. Another little one sounds like lots of fun! *hugs* I'll see if I can find a Big Sister tee for Jolene when the time is right.
Jodi - HI!! Miss you around here, and you always have something to say, lol. It doesn't need to be rocket science!
Let's see. At 2 I picked up my mom, took her to her favourite clothes store and she bought a camel coloured coat in cashmere. Then she eyed a little short waisted jacket and wanted it really badly. I had to gently scoot her out of there before she put that on her charge card too. Mom doesn't have any idea of costs any more. The jacket was $1200. Yes, I know! Ridiculous. Then I stopped by Linens and Things, found just what I needed, dropped mom off home, came home to the phone ringing off the hook - a dear friend of my mom's had passed away unexpectedly on Friday, so it's off to her funeral tomorrow morning. My parents are coming for dinner in 50 minutes, Nick's heading home from Georgian Bay's 10,000 Islands, wants food, Ted's working away on contracts downstairs. It's hot and humid. The little 2 year old next door is having another one of his whiny snits. I could shut the door, but hey, I like the breeze.
We got back from NC last night after having spent a long time in perfectly wretched traffic, all the way from Richmond to Alexandria. It added an extra hour to the driving time (which meant that we missed getting Lucy out of the kennel, and had to retrieve her this morning), and it was that really annoying traffic where you have some idiot in the far left lane going 55 mph, who refuses to move over, but who won't let anyone in front of them either!
What is the MATTER with these people!??!
Anyway, we had a great time, but were tired.
Shelly, I HOPE that I was able to get some pictures for you, but you'll have to be patient! First of all, it wasn't really all that easy to get many pictures of the campus itself because there isn't any street parking. I saw lots of really pretty buildings as I drove around getting to places, but there wasn't anywhere to pull over, and it was too far (and too hot) to walk any great distance.
Here's the other obstacle: I took my digital camera with me so that I could take pictures of Jim. Because I had my digital camera, Jim didn't take his. We also took our video camera to video the whole thing. My digital has had a dead battery for about a month, and it's a special kind that I have to get at Best Buy, or places like that. The point is that I hadn't used it since before the doll cases were hung.
Anyway, Jim picked up two new batteries for me, so I threw those into the suitcase along with the camera. Saturday, I had a little time to take pictures, so I put in a new battery, and the green light lit up (always a good sign), but there wasn't any whirring sound. Bad sign... I tried everything I knew to do, and because Jim was off meeting with someone at the time, I couldn't ask his advice.
When he came back, he couldn't figure out why the camera wouldn't work either (and he knows about cameras), but there wasn't anything we could do at that point. Then, our oldest daughter who was supposed to bring her tripod for the video camera was running so late that it didn't get set up! (Our son and youngest daughter aren't really happy about that either because they wanted to see their dad's presentation!) So we had camera issues all the way around!
Yesterday morning, I went to the Inn's giftshop, and bought a disposable camera so I could take some pictures of different nooks and crannies for you Shelly, but the only kind they had was film -- not digital. I ran around taking pictures (hope they worked), but haven't finished the roll yet! So, be patient, and hope that they turn out. If they do, I'll scan everything, and eventually post them.
Today, I had to go up to Maryland, so while I was there, I used the disposable camera to take some pictures of the doll cases (finally), but they may have reflection glare. I realized that it was stupid to continue taking pictures with glare, so I asked the lady who does the cases to unlock them for me, and then used Jim's digital (which I had taken with me as a backup, in case the disposable didn't work properly) to take the doll pictures.
Did you follow all of that??? LOL...!!!
ANYWAY, I still have about eight frames left on the disposable, so when I finish the roll, I'll take it somewhere to be developed, and we'll go from there. It was SO disappointing because I've never had one problem with my digital at all, and all of this time I've been assuming that I just had a dead battery. It was the WORST time for that camera to die!
Our son's grill apparently arrived yesterday (he's very excited), so Jim is going to help him put it together tomorrow night. It ought to go fairly quickly since he's already put one together, so now knows where all the nuts and bolts go! The two of us are going to throw on a couple of pork tenderloins tonight, and I may use one tenderloin to make wraps with red onion, yogurt, mint, and tomatoes. I can save the second tenderloin for some kind of leftovers tomorrow night.
So -- Shelly -- clearly I have absolutely nothing exciting to post about, and haven't been on much this weekend because of all the road time!
Jojo -- it's good to see you!
By the way, is Tess working too hard again? I haven't seen her lately!
Oh hi, KaeEll. I just saw your post... Yes, I think it was probably just as well that your mother left the store before buying that little jacket. Yikes!

Wow moore, you sure had a busy weekend. I love how you said Perfectly wretched. Seems the two words cancel each other out. And please take your time with the pictures. I didn't mean for you to have to go through so much trouble to get them. I hope you were able to get a couple pictures of Jim before it died on you.
I figured that there wasn't anything terribly exciting going on, we usually share stuff like that. I think that Tess must be working crazy again, I wish the people she works with could come up with a better balance for that.
Shelly, unfortunately I didn't discover that my camera was defunct until Saturday afternoon, and the event began at 6:00 pm, so I don't have any stills of him, and of course no video either.
However, one of our friends took some pictures -- not of the talk, but a few candids later on, so if he sends those to us, maybe we'll at least have a few...
It was a fun time, and a beautiful Inn. I truly hated to leave.

OH!!! I forgot to mention, Shelly, that there were several weddings going on there, in a couple of the gardens they have tucked away. One of the pictures I took was of a pretty little altar they had set up, and they had wrapped beautiful old trees with tiny lights. Really pretty, although I got what was left after the wedding was already over, and everything pretty much put away.
I really do hope that one works!
PS -- as for the "perfectly wretched" trip, I'm glad you enjoyed that. I put the two together because that last leg of the trip was SO wretched that it was a perfect representation of wretched!
