Mad Men.

Is anyone else here addicted?

Jim and I had been hearing about this show, but hadn't watched it until about three weeks ago. One weekend, there was a marathon from last season, so we completely caught up on the characters, and storyline.

We're hooked!

It's a very good representation of the late 1950s, and early 1960s. Even the costumes are authentic, with the female actors wearing the same undergarments that were around at the time.

Lots of cigarettes too. One forgets...

What network is it on? I haven't even heard of it, but if it's good, I'll give it a spin.

Doesn't it have the guy who married Gaby on DH on it? I haven't seen it yet. Seems my tv schedule is too full for my own good. I do have to say that if you like a good laugh you need to check out The New Adventures of Old Christine. I watch it and I swear I can laugh through almost the entire hour. Its hilarious, has both Julie Louis Dreyfus and Wanda Sikes. Just hilarious

The show is on Sunday night (10:00 pm) on the AMC channel. I think...

If you're interested, I can give you a quick synopsis of who the characters are, and the storyline.

Moore, I wanted to let you know that I found Mad Men on AMC at 10 Sunday nights and programmed to record all episodes. I'll probably have a bunch of questions for you after I've watched the first one. Thanks for the heads up.

WOW!! Good show. Question - why are the couple (hunky guy, pretty wife, but a little dippy) separated? He seems to want to get back together with her, she seems very attached to him, and yet they're split up. What's the back story there?

Creepy thing with that little boy who had a fantasy about the lady that found him and helped him clean up, fed him, etc. Creepy.

Okay, let's try this again...

The husband had a fling with a client's wife. The client is an actor for ads the husband's company produces, and is a jerk. The wife acts as a bit of a manager for him, and came on, hot and heavy, with the now-estranged husband. She did managed to lure him into a rather hot affair, and the young wife found out. She was majorly pissed, not only because he was having an affair, but also because they'd all just gone out to dinner together (to Lutece, I think), and she'd played the role of the nice little wifey, charming the husband's clients!

HOWEVER, the pretty young wife has her eye on a younger man who rides at the same stables she uses (gorgeous horses). She hasn't acted on it yet, though, and the younger man doesn't appear to have recognized that she thinks of him as more than a friend yet.

You probably haven't had a chance to see much of the little boy, but he's a real heartbreaker.

I'm glad you watched, and liked the show! See if you can find some reruns...
--------------

Okay, I found the Season 2 episode opening, in three parts, on the Mad Men website, and I also found a montage on YouTube of just clips from Season 1, set to music. It won't tell you a lot, but is rather fun to watch.

I'm still trying to find someplace where you can see all of Season 1, and I know I saw somewhere that had earlier episodes of this season. I'll keep trying...

By the way, the plain-Jane girl who wants to become more recognized within the company has an interesting backstory. She's a lapsed Catholic who spends Sundays in a gloomy atmosphere with her family, in a dingy apartment. Her father lies on the couch because of a bad back, and her older sister and mother twitter around with the Sunday meal. It turns out that she had a brief fling in her past that resulted in a baby boy. He lives with the aunt. She, and the family, have kept all of this a deep, dark secret, and consider it to have been a major sin. In the MEANTIME, there's a new priest in town, and he tends to come to Sunday dinner a lot. He likes her, and she apparently likes him, but he's her priest, so she's trying to avoid both her feelings, and revealing too much of herself to him.

ALSO, she had a bit of a mental breakdown over the pregnancy, and was in a mental hospital for a while. The now-estranged husband was her only friend throughout the ordeal.

Here are the links. I'm too lazy to hyperlink them this morning! LOL...

I actually found a location where you can watch full episodes for ALL of Season 1, and Season 2 thus far!

When the video comes up, the forward arrow will scare you because it's placed in between two smiling young ladies, advertising a dating service. It looks like the arrow will take you there, but it won't. Go ahead and click it (I had to click twice), and it will bring up a full episode.

SO...you can have your own Mad Men marathon!

As though you have nothing else to do...

Mad Men

Oh, I forgot to say that when you click onto the episode you want to watch, you'll be taken to another screen where you'll need to make the choice of watching online or downloading it. If you choose to watch it online, that's when you'll be taken to the scary video option.

Thanks!! Good stories and that era evokes lots of memories form way back when, childhood stuff, etc. I wish I could get Ted to watch it with me as I'm sure he'd LOVE it. I've not given up on him yet, lol.

I'll pick up those links after Thanksgiving dinner is out of the way. Again, thanks for the tip to watch. It really is one of the best things on TV right now, and VERY soapy.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Enjoy the feast...

By the way, I highly recommend this quick little YouTube Retrospective of Season 1, just as a quick "fix", and for those who haven't watched an episode. This by itself is enough to hook anyone!

And, I'll hyperlink it this time.

Dose Me Up.
