Okay, as you ALL know, Jim's car was dinged by a guy who later denied responsibility, and we were ready to do battle with Progressive. Ultimately, they accepted liability for the accident, so Jim sent his poor little car away for repairs.
He got it back yesterday morning.
I'm posting this to give credit where credit is due: Progressive took very good care of us, and did a great job with the car. No headaches whatsoever. In fact, Jim was rather impressed with the way he was treated! They provided him with another car, and only asked that the tank be filled with he returned it yesterday morning.
The repairs to Jim's car were perfect, and they even touched up some miscellaneous little spots that come with normal wear and tear, and had nothing to do with the accident. They spiffed up the interior (even though Jim keeps it in perfect condition all the time), washed and waxed the exterior to a high sheen, including the wheels, to the point where it now looks as though it's brand new, off the show room floor!
After all of the angst, I just wanted to give Progressive its much-deserved acknowledgement of a job well done...

Thank goodness they came through for you after all that nonsense at the outset. We've had some half-decent experiences with our car insurance company after a fender bender, but then the rates went up like crazy because of it. sigh
Well, at least it won't be OUR rates that go up from this experience, but hopefully that other lying idiot will end up paying, not only for being so careless to begin with (Jim could have been very badly hurt in a conflict between a massive ice cream truck, and a little Mazda Miata, with its top down), but also for being so dishonest!

Jim left the office at 3:00 pm so he could be home early today. I had given him a gift certificate for an art class last Christmas, and he's finally taking advantage of it.
He was on his way home when he developed a flat tire. He was in the middle of Georgetown when it happened, but right by a gas station. They didn't have the right kind of tire, and said that he'd have to go to a Mazda dealer for the right one. In the meantime, they patched the flat (there was a HUGE gash in it), and put in a little extra air.
So, Jim and his poor little car limped to the dealership, and got there just in the nick of time to get the tire replaced. He has no idea when or where the gash could have occurred, but it's fixed now.
PATHETIC!!

Wow .. I've been having tire issues lately too. Luckily they're all cleared up now. In August I was driving to Taylorville to mee tmy mom when the whole tread part of my tire just completely flew off. I was close to walmart so I limped my poor van there and got it replaced, then another tire started going flat. I thought it was just a one time thing. So Hubby was driving it to work. He was almost home when he heard it pop. Luckily it was right at the corner to turn into our subdivision and there's a tire shop there.
They were closing up for the evening but the lady who works the counter was nice enough to call the guys up front to switch it out. Only charged him 35 and let him know to come back the next day and it'd only be 65.00 to replace the rest. They were used, but in amazing shape. They still have the little spoke things on them. Apparently the van that had them was totaled just 2 weeks after getting new tires. Anywho .. I went hte next day and traded them out.
WHile they were changing them they noticed one of my other tires also had a screw in it. It was going to go at any moment as well.
