I'm really going to miss Eileen Herlie. She was one of my favorite characters, and I loved her relationship with Zach. She's going to be missed!

Oh no! How sad. I loved Myrtle. She's irreplaceable.

It has been a crazy day.

The AMC board lit up with the Eileen Herlie information early this afternoon, but there weren't any good sources at first. I deleted one thread, and then another popped up. In the meantime, I was trying to find some reliable news souce that might allow me to confirm whether or not the sad news was true, and restore the threads. Something beyond Wikipedia, and other soap sites! Nothing... In the meantime, about six more threads popped up, one by one (and were deleted), so I finally posted a vague thread saying that there had been a lot of deleted threads that would be restored once certain information about a certain subject was confirmed.

No one paid any attention to it of course, so yet more threads popped up, and had to go away!

You'd be amazed at what people are willing to post, just to get attention, or to upset people, so I REALLY didn't want to leave that information up until I knew for sure it was true. Had a terrible feeling that it was, though, since it was surfacing in so many different places.

I'd emailed Dan and Liz to find out if they knew anything, but, just my luck, neither one of them was signed onto SOC at that particular time, and were apparently completely away from their computers too!

ARGH...!!!

On top of all of this, we've had a crazy onslaught of spoiler threads lately, a BUNCH of duplicates, unmarked spoilers, or spoiler information in the thread titles, to the point where I've been merging and deleting almost nonstop for the past two days. It's been like swatting mosquitoes on a sultry summer night!!

All the while, emails had been flooding my inbox either asking where the threads had gone, or offering up helpful suggestions as to where I might find further information (places I'd already checked), so I had to answer all of those, along with a couple of private messages in my profile.

FINALLY, one poster told me that there was a notice on the ABC site. I'd been over there earlier and hadn't seen anything, but went back, and there it was.

SO sad...!!!

At that point, I restored all of the threads (there were eight or ten of them by then), merged them, and posted that the information was true. Dan also put up the official information at just about that same time.

I'm exhausted.

I loved Myrtle. I loved her relationship with Zach too, and I'm most definitely going to miss both the character and the actress. Both of them were class acts!

Oh, Moore, it is so sad.

I must say I admire you for your efforts over at that big board. Isn't it like chewing tin foil or sitting on tacks some days?

Moore, I know the other mods are great too but I really think that you are so dedicated to that site. It really does make it a better site to go to. Both you and Liz and all the others work so hard to make SOC not like the other boards that are so hostile.

I am terribly sad by the news of Myrtle's death. I read somewhere else that she was 90 when she passed. She sure lived a heck of a life didn't she. I hope that AMC does her death justice. She deserves a funeral like no other.

Thank you, Shelly -- on behalf of ALL the mods!

Some days are definitely worse than others, and it seems to go in cycles. It always seems to happen on days when I have other things planned to do besides sit on the computer, but if I don't pounce of stuff right away, then it all goes to hell. Dan doesn't want the board to be OVER moderated; he wants people to have fun posting, but he also wants them to abide by the rules. Sometimes it's a challenge to decide how to balance that!

I, too, really hope that Myrtle gets a proper send-off. She's been such a fun character to watch all of these years, imparting her words of wisdom to everyone in Pine Valley, all of whom need it on a regular basis! What are all of these characters going to do now that they won't have her practical advice anymore?! Lord knows, Erica has been depending on it, ever since Mona died. And poor Zach... He and Myrtle were the best couple on the show.

I'm afraid that Palmer is going to be next. He's been looking very frail lately too.

This is always just so darned hard!

Isn't the actor who portrays Palmer also in his 80's?

Yes, he's way up there in age...
