Jim and I have had this on our list to see for a long time, and I finally saw it last night. I happened to stumble onto it, and since there wasn't anything else on, I decided to watch (kept it on Tivo for Jim to see). The acting is amazing, and worth watching just for the young girl in the beginning, and for Vanessa Redgrave's small part towards the end.
I don't want to give anything away, but it's very powerful, with amazing sets/locations.
Has anyone else seen it? I don't remember any posts about it...

I'm not sure I've even heard of it. I'm not much of a movie watcher, but every once in a while I'll get in a mood to rent some movies. I'll def put that on the list. Thanks for the recommendation!
It was released in January, and is a Kiera Knightley movie. I know. She's too skinny, but I like her; she was excellent in this, and I absolutely loved her in Pride and Prejudice.
The young actress I mentioned, Saoirse Ronan, is currently only fourteen, and she was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in this movie. She must have been twelve/thirteen when it was filmed, and she was awesome!
It's a mystery that takes place in England in 1935. Great costumes, but it is NOT a girlie flick. There are some war scenes that are beautifully done, and there's a lot of psychological drama, and sexual undertones.
I don't want to say much more because I don't want to spoil anything, but it's worth rennting, or you might find it on HBO, which is where I found it last night.
