Wednesday

Nick is in Edmonton now and plans to stay put for a couple of days before headind down to Vancouver. Ted finally called me very late last night from the airport there as he waited for the red eye back here, then was to hop on a commuter flight to Ottawa. I can only assume he made it there as I've heard nothing yet. He'll be home tonight at dinner time.

Tony's still in LA, Mike's in WV, both back tomorrow night.

I made myself a 12:30 hair appointment for today, then across town to a little shop, then a grocery run, and back home.

There was yet another ridiculous encounter yesterday with my mother's con-man dentist as I was called for an "urgent" appointment that they insisted I must take my mother to as my father said he was unavailable to drive her. So I dropped everything and drove her there only to learn that all they wanted was a cheque!! This is the guy whose assistant drives a Mercedes SUV. Neither of my parents listen to me about that jerk. All of his patients are elderly people in the community. He's got quite the racket going for himself.

What's up today?

No silver polishing today??!! KaeEll, your house is going to absolutely sparkle by the time Ted comes home, and I'm very impressed. You've inspired me... I know that I have some silver tucked away that's probably green by now.

Your parents' dentist is a jerk. I'm sorry you had to go on that wild goose chase yesterday.

It's a pretty day here, and am not sure what my agenda is yet. I'm torn between working on some doll stuff for a November 3rd deadline, shopping for a new refrigerator (ugh), or doing something relaxing and fun.

I could always polish some silver!

LOL, no, no silver today. It's kind of a comfort chore for me. Years ago when we had that, ahem, turn-around and everything went upside down for a couple of years, silver polishing and ironing kept me sane. It was a comfort looking at my pretty things, a reminder that somehow I'd get through this. So when ALL the guys left town and it was just Chloe and me and I felt so disconnected, and life around me was changing YET again, out came the silver polish, lol. I guess you'd be able to tell my state of mind by the tarnish build up around the house.

Must say I was immensely annoyed that I heard nothing from the out west guys until 1 a.m., and Ted promised to phone me from Ottawa this morning but hasn't. Maybe me giving him a hard time about not calling yesterday encouraged him to steer clear of me today. Or maybe his plane was hijacked by a UFO this morning. Yeah, the latter, lol.

KaeEll, I think that you're the first person on the planet, besides ME, I've ever heard say that ironing is a comfort!! Everytime I've said this to anyone myself, they've looked at me as though I'm some kind of raving lunatic. LOL...

I love the smell of fresh laundry, and I love the way ironing smells. When I was little, it was my special chore to iron the flat stuff, like pillow cases, hankies, and (yes) my father's undershirts and boxers. Great practice! Nine times out of ten, this was laundry that had been dried outside; we tended to use our dryer during the winter months when I was little.

During the early years of our marriage, I decided that it was ridiculous to pay for dry cleaning Jim's shirts, and they always came back with loose or missing buttons anyway, so I took over the job. It's not that big a deal, and I knew that they would look nice. I do slacks well too, thanks to my father. When I was in my teens, he told me how important it is to get that crease down the front exactly right, and I practiced until I nailed it!

Simple pleasures...

Well it is official. I am having twins. And it sounds like the little guys, or girls will be due at the end of May.

Kae I sure hope that Ted calls you soon. I hate when men feel like they don't have to call even though they know that by not calling it leaves us worried.

I just got to work a few minutes ago. Had my second ultra sound this morning because the first time we were so early they couldn't see anything. So I took the morning off and used the opportunity to take Jo to get her 4 year old shots. Poor girl. She is at that perfect age where the shots are like the end of the world. And she isn't much of a crier so of course seeing her instantly tear up like that broke my heart. So I had a whole morning of work lost.

LOL, Moore. ironing was always one of my favourite things until a couple of years ago when something "snapped". I think it was the sheets that I used to iron (gasp, what was I thinking??) that did me in. I invested in a bunch of those high count all cotton bed linens that come out of the dryer completely wrinkled and it drove me nuts, so I ironed the top sheets and the pillow cases. One day, for whatever reason, I couldn't bring myself to do it any more. The beds have wrinkly top sheets now.

Note for Shelly when she gets here - I've had Y&R on in the background while scooting around and it's a real filler episode. The only noteworthy anything is the arrival of Olivia in GC. All the rest is the Lowell bomb story. Oh, and that was Marge drinking in the bar. We catch a glimpse of Kay entering the bar and looking at her.

TWINS?!!?

Shelly, that's just INCREDIBLE news. Are there twins in your family, or in Vinnie's? Wow... This ranks right up at the top when it comes to exciting news on this board.

Congratulations!! Now go put your feet up!!!

There are actually twins on both sides...and as much as I would love to put my feet up I am stuck at work. And now with twins coming I have to work as much as possible.

BOTH sides!! I guess that this was inevitable. LOL...

You are VERY lucky. There's a set of twins across the street from us, with two younger singles, and they're adorable. You'll have your hands full, but you have a big-girl helper who'll probably think that the babies are hers.

Yeah, I am still not totally sure when do I start talking with Jolene about it. I mean right now she can't tell I am pregnant. So its hard for her to understand. We have asked if she wanted a little brother or sister and she said brother.

It's probably a good idea to wait a little longer, and maybe even until you're showing a bit. Waiting even five or six months for the baby to arrive feels like an endless period of time to really young children.

Of course, you don't want her left completely in the dark either, so you may want to say that you're pretty sure there will be a new baby in the family when it's springtime again.

Yeah, so someone told me that Pampers or one of those sites gives away a lot of stuff to people with multiples. If anyone here is better at searching for stuff like that please let me know if you find it...

Congrats on the twins Shelly!!! How very exciting! I might go insane myself. Heh.

I'm def NOT comforted by ironing, LOL. I hate it. All of my stuff goes in the dryer to get de-wrinkled. LOL. However, I LOVE vacuuming. Destresses me. I absolutely love the sound of dirt and things sucking up into the vacuum.

It's been an absolutely exhausting three days at work. I don't remember the last time we were this busy!!

And for Brandon-I hope your wife is ok. To clue everyone in, I just saw on Facebook where Bran had updated his status to state he was tending to his wife after a car accident. So, I hope she is alright! Please let us know how she's doing!
