Day Ahead October 23

Jack continues to manipulate Adam into dealing solo with the forger of the diary, AND he cons Sharon, lies to her a little and dashes off.

Nick takes Phyllis an anniversary present of chocolate pastries, kiss, kiss, followed by a stetson. Sharon calls Nick to talk about Noah's trip to Paris and he senses she's a bit "off" but goes back to that thing he and Phyllis do so well and OH!! Nick finds a listening devise planted under their coffee table!! Heather and her FBI goons listen in on Nikki and Victoria talking about Victor. Heather thinks she has something to go on from the comments Nikki makes.

Adam and the forger go over the diary, Frank demands his second payment, says he's nervous that he's never met his partner (Jack) and suggests that Adam might not be able to really trust the guy.

Kay and Jill disagree about her driving a carand seeing a doctor for her "condition". Kay maintains there's nothing wrong with her.

Nick and Phyllis pretend for the listening folks as he goes over to the ranch to warn his mother that she's being bugged as well. Cute scene.

More tender moments with Jill and Katherine - wonderful acting by JC and JW. Sad and a little too close to home for me.

Jack manages to get Frank to comply with his scheme and he (Frank the forger) reluctantly agrees to give Adam the diary to bring to Jack at CL. (Jack's clearly a few steps ahead of these guys. He seems to have thought this whole thing out well in advance.)

Jill will take her mother to a doctor's appointment, will be back in a moment. Kay receives a strange phone call, says "this IS Katherine Chancellor", followed by a "what?" (That has to be someone calling to tell her about Marge drinking in the bar.)

Skinny Phyllis eats all those pastries and pretends that she and Nick are at it, bothers Heather who asks her goons to turn it off, lol.

Nikki assures Nick that she and Victoria didn't say anything about their "plan"that could tip off Heather. Nick has an idea....

Jack and Adam meet with the publisher about the diary.

Nikki goes over to Nick and Phyllis's place to follow through with Nick's plan. He sends Phyllis upstairs so that he and his mother can have the conversation intended to mislead Heather and company. Ah - Nick will take Argentina pesos to his father in Buenos Aires, and leave today. Heather bites.

I feel the very same way. What he's doing is so wrong on so many levels, especially with Sharon, but I'd love it if for ONCE he'd get the better of Victor. But I don't think he will this time either. I don't believe Victor killed that guy in Mexico.

Sharon and Victoria have a warm conversation about Victor. V is worried about her father possibly hurting himself.

Flash over to Victor in France, in a church, lighting a candle and praying.

Heather has second thought about falling for Nick's plan - senses something is fishy, maybe the Newman's are scamming them here, knowing that they're bugged. Goons say they have no choice but to follow Nick.

The publisher is pleased about the diary, will have it printed up, shake hands on it, but he won't use Adam's article - too much venom. Adam's really upset, but Jack talks him out of his concerns. Great scene! (Jack is a little too confident, not a good sign, eh?)

The last few minutes...

Kay finds Marge in that bar.

Heather joins a very glum Adam at CL, kiss hello. She cheers him up. says she might have a line on Victor. She doesn't think they can convict him of murder though, too much circumstantial evidence and she'd need more concrete proof.

Nick stops by Sharon's to sign the Paris trip papers for Noah, asks her what's going on with her. He says she can talk to him about anything She says she's just worried about Noah being so far from home. Off goes Nick, unsatisfied with Sharon's answer, but he leaves it alone for now.

Jack and Phyllis - he warns her to stay away from his wife and her meddling dirty tricks - they didn't work the last time. Frank calls Jack, surprises him, demands he give him the second payment tonight and in person. (Adam gave Frank Jack's phone number.)

Nikki and Victoria open a box delivered from France - a few relics salvaged from the fire at the chateau. Nikki unwraps a covered egg-shaped red glass thing, wonder what on earth it is, could it be significant?

Victor, in a confession box, asks the priest or forgiveness, he has sinned, many, many times since his last confession when he was a child in the orphanage.

Next:

Frank, on the phone with Jack, says "See ya soon, Jack". Jack snaps off his phone.

Marge and Kay in the bar. Kay asks Marge if it was because of the booze that she called her there tonight.

Victoria wants her mother to go to France to find Victor. Nikki says he doesn't trust her.

Gah, just mentioning Gloria and that darn hippie bomb story line makes me cringe. Between Michael Gross, who I really feel is wrong for the part (and I really miss Ted Shackleford - Jeff, right?) and the kid playing Eden, and Gloria obviously falling in love with Lowell all over again, just ugh. I want Jeffery back!! Not even the great CLB can salvage this crud.

It was a really good episode today. It made up for a crummy Tuesday and Wednesday.
