How do you guys feel about this news? We sat up until the wee hours watching last night's returns although by 9:28 p.m., it was all over for McCain and Palin. Just wow!! A record number of voters since 1907, at 64% of eligible people making their way to the polls.
And this morning we heard the news that our friends' little daughter, Charlotte Ann, made her way into the world at 7 pounds, 5 ounces. What a great day!!
I'm still sick but not as sick as my d-i-l who called early this morning begging for help. I'm off to take her some ginger ale and something for the kids to eat at dinner.
I can't tell you how immensely relieved most of Canada is at this election news. There is hope after all...
We, of course, stayed up until the end, and went to bed happy... I also thought that McCain gave an amazing concession speech, and I believe that he'll go back to the Senate, and do whatever he can to help Obama dig us all out of the mess we're in.
I have very high hopes for our future, and so far the international reaction has been positive. It's good to know that this barrier is finally behind us, and we can get on with it. I hope that there will also be clear recognition that over 60% of Obama's votes came from the white community. This is also a very positive thing!

I am just so glad that it is over. Now we can get to the hard part of fixing this country. I am also glad that McCain didn't make them count every single vote. And I agree with Moore, I liked his speech. Like I said, I am just glad its over.
Obama appears to be carrying former Republican strongholds of Indiana and North Carolina (results pending) and he took 9 more states then John Kerry did in 2004.

Our son was up for 22 straight hours, and is one tired puppy today. He may go home early...
As I mentioned, he's a princinct captain in Arlington County, and has campaigned his fanny off for Obama. His princinct apparently broke some records, and he's very proud of that this morning. They had a 20% higher turnout than they had in 2004, and it was up 40% from 2000!
The kid is still only 23 years old (until the Nov. 22nd, that is), so I'm rather proud of him.

OMG!! I just got back from taking some dinner to d-i-l who has her neighbour there taking care of the kids while she's busy throwing up and all, and the traffic in town is HORRIBLE. There was a really bad accident at 6 this morning - a tractor trailer truck FELL OFF the raised 427 highway onto the Gardiner Expressway below. People were airlifted into hospital and both roads are now closed. What a mess.
Moore, please give your son my congratulations for a job beautifully done. As Confucius says, it is better to light one small candle than to complain of the darkness.
Shelly, he's elated! He really is... KaeEll, he definitely lit his candle, and it's a wonderful beginning for a young man who wants very much to remain involved in politics, and to run for office one day. I'm proud of all three of our kids, though. Arizona Daughter was in line at 5:30 a.m. to cast her very first vote, and our oldest daughter had volunteered time at her local Obama campaign headquarters, and was there celebrating last night, shedding many tears of joy.
It's an amazing day. As an undecided Independent who was going to make my choice at the very end, after listening to everything, it all finally jelled for me after Obama's informercial aired. I suddenly felt that McCain was operating in the past, and that Obama held our future in very capable hands. I cast my vote with great peace, determination, and pride.
KaeEll, that's horrible about the accident. We had something similar about five or six years ago. A fuel truck went off an overpass, and crashed below, and there was a massive fire as a result. Just horrible... I hope that everyone will survive your situation there.

Oh yeah, and the main reason I am happy about Obama winning is because with his Iraq plan that means that my best friend who is over there now sitting around waiting to come home will not likely have to go back out in the small time frame that Obama has layed out for withdrawal. That is great news to me.
