Moore, I will definitely take your advice and lay low today again. There is no way I want a relapse of this thing. Ugh.
Ted has to go back over to Tony's this morning after church (they went to the 9:30) and finish their play house thing. Then the two guys will go put my parents' outdoor furniture in the garage loft for the winter. After that, so far, we're free and clear for the rest of the day.
Mike e mailed us from the LA airport last night around 10:30 and had another 2 hour layover before boarding Fiji Air for Auckland. He must be there by now, haven't heard anything yet. I checked the temperature for Raglan today and it's COLD there - 11 degrees. Poor guy travelled across the globe for summer weather and he's ending up in a place with a cold snap. We sure hope that young lady is worth it!
Shelly, I understand that the logistics of train travel could be just a pain in the neck. But you sure would have to get on the road VERY early to meet Moore for lunch the day of driving, lol.
Moore, you never told us how you spent your birthday last week. Did Jim take you out for dinner?
I'm glad to know that you'll be taking it easy, KaeEll. The flu can really knock the wind out of a person!
I actually didn't do much to celebrate my birthday last week, to tell you the truth, but not for lack of trying by others. My birthday happened to be the day we hung the Christmas tree at Strathmore, and I was already tired from the grand push towards that deadline. "My ladies" wanted to take me somewhere afterwards, but I declined. Jim had asked me where I wanted to go for dinner, but - again - I declined. My idea of a nice birthday this time around was to NOT do anything! I think I mentioned that AD had sent me a chocolate-covered fruit bouquet which I attacked with great appreciation, and Jim cooked dinner.
Our son's birthday is November 22nd, so we'll go out then, and kind of do a dual celebration.
We have a lot of November birthdays. My niece will be thirteen on Thanksgiving Day; my college roommate (Toronto/Baltimore friend) has a birthday on November 25th, my boarding school roommate (Alan Webb's mom) has a birthday on November 26th, and my sister's birthday was on November 30th!
Shelly, I posted in Saturday's thread about lunch...

Moore, the niece who will be 13, is she your nephew's daughter?
We have a wedding anniversary on the 25th. We were married on Thanksgiving weekend so that our American friends and family could be here for it. (That was a million years ago.) Busy time of year for lots of people!
Ted's off now to get the rest of that climbing thing with Tony. It's so different having a quiet house. For the longest time this fall we've had various kids and friends of kids all over the place, and even when it was relatively quiet, we'd have Mike practising trumpet jazz riffs downstairs and THAT about drove me nuts.
Yes, KaeEll -- Lauren is my younger nephew's firstborn of three, and she looks exactly like my sister! My sister's older son is married, but has no children.
Our son was born on Thanksgiving Day, so every few years it falls on his birthday again. It's really late this year though...
I can well imagine how much you're enjoying the peace and quiet in your house right now.

Well I found out that the friends of mine who were at Fort Meade in MD are actually still down there. So I think I will just drive the first 5 hours there and stay at least 1 night and then drive the rest of the way down. That won't be so bad. Too bad though I was thinking lunch with a board member would be nice...Who knows maybe we can meet for something while I am in that area.
Today we had church and boy was Jolene not having anything to do with being quiet during services. That was not fun. So here we are trying to get rest before I have to head to the airport to get a couple friends who have been in Wash. State this last week. Other then that a very low key day.
Well call me, Shelly! At the very least we could chat, and one never knows what everyone's schedule will be when the time actually rolls around. I never say "never" because things can change.
Good idea to break up the driving into smaller chunks, I think... Especially when travelling with a child.
