My time had come and I asked our lord to show me the truth of all things He took me to a place where angels and heavenly spirits awaited the souls of men There were two paths that led towards entrance into our lord's heaven
One was bright and shone of heavenly glory and an amazing light, one without equal I asked my lord, what had those souls done to receive such a path, he answered simply They followed my laws, and took on my mantle. They fought for their brothers and sisters, They served our God and though none were perfect, strove to be examples of me on the earth.
I looked at the other path. This one was clouded and seemed dark and the souls traveling it struggled I asked my lord what had set those souls to such a struggling way, to such a hard path to glory He answered simply, these are those that fought against me, these are those that did not prevail on earth These are your brothers and sisters, ones who did not or would not reach out for my hand and allow me to lead
My heart was saddened, and I fell to my knees crying, knowing that these souls may not know the glory of heaven Our lord placed his hand on my shoulder and asked, why do you cry for them, should not they suffer for their sins? They did horrible things on earth. They were thieves, murderers, and twisters of my message, only seeking for them What would you have me do? What would you do if you were I? Would you forgive? Would you take their place?
I wiped my eyes of the tears I had cried and looked at our lord and struggled to bring forth even the smallest answer It was not my place to save them; it was my place to love them, to hold them, to stand by them no matter their deeds I can only take the love that you gave me, the love you showed entering this world as a baby, here on earth to save us I can take your sacrifice on the cross and show them what true love is, love to give all for those who would deny you
Our lord watched me and brought me to my feet with a smile, his eyes shedding tears, not of sorrow but of happiness I asked our lord why he cried and he said to me, I was sent not into your world to damn you, but to instead save you Our God is a loving god, he sent me to take your place, so that you could come to him, filled by mercy and grace He loves us all, no matter our paths, no matter our sins, no matter our rights, no matter our wrongs, he loves us all
Our lord continued, by his grace, by his love, all those who are willing will be redeemed when judgment comes to them With those words, our lord stretched out his hand, and the path my damned brothers and sisters took was brightened He said to them, I am the Lord your God, whoever of you believe in me shall join me in the halls of my father's kingdom I am the way, the truth and the light, come to me and you shall walk the streets of gold and be with my father tonight
With the darkness gone, with nothing to cloud their way, my brothers and sisters fell to their knees and begged our lord They begged for his forgiveness, they begged for him to allow them to join his kingdom, to feast at his father's table He swept his hand across the sky and all the pain was gone from their eyes, their souls shone brightly with his grace The path that was once dark was gone and only one path remained, and it led them into the gates of heaven to God
Our lord turned and said that I had asked to be shown the truth of all things; to know what it was that was true With a flash of light the scene changed and here our lord and I saw a mother and father and baby in a manger Our lord said I came to you as a baby, pure of heart and mind and to display the love of our God to you clearly I died for you as a man, and as your brother I joyfully welcome you home to be with me and my father for all eternity
He continued, it matters not the deeds performed, it matters not the sin that a man act on, in fact none of it matters What makes the difference in the path is your heart, your love for me and our father; this will get you to his kingdom Man was born to sin, man was born to be redeemed, man was born to come to me, and man was born to be led by me I love you my brother and sister, remember that my birth led to my sacrifice, which led you to our father's kingdom
And so it is I that say to you my brothers and sisters, that which our lord spoke was of the truest nature of good Remember his birth as a child, pure and holy, his destiny to save us all so that we could live gloriously with him Remember his sacrifice and we shall know the path on which to walk, the truth to put into our hearts and minds For by his birth and his death, Jesus saved not just the saint but also saved the sinner, and that is the truest love of all.
