Dear Sundancer...

Hi there! I see that you just recently joined our little chatter board, so I thought a hello would be in order, as well as an invitation to tell us here a little about yourself. We're kind of like a family, so few of us around most days, and all so familiar with one another.

How did you find us?

Hi, KaeLL - Thanks for the welcome. The only soap I watch is AMC. I have spent most of my life in Ohio. Now I live in Houston, except I go back to Ohio in the summer. I enjoy dancing, tennis, and teach swimming. I am trying to remember where I saw the link for this message board....

Ah, summers in Ohio. We used to visit my s-i-l who had a summer home in Sandusky for a few years before she moved to Maryland. We used to sit in the garden in the evenings and watch the fireflies hum around, amusing the kids to no end. She used to teach at the university nearby before that skunk husband of hers dumped her for some ageing hippie and moved to a goat farm in the hills. He has since moved on and is currently polluting the British Columbia waters I'm told. Skunk. Never liked him.

I have been watching AMC a little lately too, battling this disgusting cold/flu thing that has gripped me something fierce. I've been stuck inside for a couple of weeks now so I tune in. I like Tad, think he looks fantastic grey, rather enjoy Jesse as well. But I have to admit to not liking the Bianca and Reese scenes. I'm a fairly liberal minded person, but something grates on me when I watch two women kissing. Maybe it's just me.

Anyway, welcome, Sundancer. How do you like the humidity down there in Houston? My only memory of the place is trying to get my hose to dry overnight. Couldn't do it, lol. It's a little too hot and mucky in Houston for me.

Hey Sundancer!

For YEARS, the only soap I ever watched was AMC, and I've watched it from the beginning. Then my youngest daughter (nearly 21 now) got me hooked on OLTL because she always wanted a bottle at 2:00 pm, so I blame her!! LOL...

KaeEll - When you used to go to Sandusky, did you ever go to Cedar Point? Do you like high roller coasters? I never go on those anymore!

I fast forward through any mushy scenes with Lesbianca and Bi-Reese! I don't enjoy watching it and its a waste of time.

The humidity does not bother me much. I haven't been here for the summer yet. I did spend 3 years on the south side of Miami many years ago and thank goodness for air conditioning! Last October we went to Tucson for a wedding. We stayed a week and the dryness was too much for me.

Moore_ideas - Which soap do you like better------AMC or OLTL? I see you over at SoapCentral!

Sundancer, no we never went to Cedar Point, and no I don't like roller coasters, lol. I don't think you could pay me enough to get on one of those things. Many moons ago, I used to like carnival rides a bit, but not any more, to say the least, lol. Maybe a carousel... Most of the time we'd spend in Sandusky would be out shopping for antiques and amusing the kids by the lake.

Oh, so you're new to Houston, huh? Well, get ready for some steam. I don't know if you get bad hair days in humidity but my whole time in Houston I looked like a poodle. For me, that's not a good thing. Texas wasn't my favourite place, really.

Our Shelly here is from Phoenix. She described herself once as a hot house flower, wondered how on earth she'd survive the New England winters, but she's done so well! I guess it's a matter of acclimatising to the conditions.

It's nice to know there's someone else out there that doesn't like the lesbian love story. It's not the same sex thing that bothers me as much as the mushy scenes. Funny you should call it a waste of time, lol. All soap watching is a waste of time!! At least we have to admit it, lol.

Sundancer, do you have any kids? Are you married?

Sundancer, I go back and forth between which soap I prefer! It depends on what's happening.

Because I've watched it from the beginning, though, I can't imagine not watching AMC.

Oh -- I forgot to ask -- do you post on SOC, or just lurk? LOL!! If you don't already post over there, you should take the plunge!

I feel like such a slacker to have not popped in here and welcomed you to this board. We are so glad you did. The main posters on this board have been posting together I guess about 3 years now and its always nice to have a new "face". As you have probably noticed we don't talk about soaps as often as we once did. Believe it or not we were all pretty big ABC soap viewers though only a couple of us watched GH. At one point all of us watched OLTL. But between bad soap writing and life its not so big anymore.

Anyways, welcome. I hope you can manage to enjoy Texas. I have a lot of friends from there who just love it.

I am not real new to Houston. This is my fourth year here. I just go back to my house in northeast Ohio for about four months of the warmer season. There I have a full-time summer job, and two weekend jobs that I do by appointment and I mow a large lot (1½ acres) of grass. I play tennis four mornings a week, weather permitting, for almost 1½ hours each time. Then on Friday or Saturday evening I often do some swing dancing. I also teach swimming here in Houston. My employers here always welcome me back in the Fall. I have a good friend here who goes back to Canada (couple hours north of Toronto) every summer.

I have been married 38 years. We have four grown children and three grandchildren.
Here is a photo of the little ones:

Enough about me. Please tell about you --- all of you!

I do occasionally post at SoapOperaCentral. I signed up there as Sundance715 in April 2005 and am only up to 135 posts. Moore, you are a mod there, right? The board is so well run. I like the way the threads are merged if they are on the same topic. Its a great place to really discuss the soaps. I have recommended it to others. How long has it been in existence?

What adorable grandchildren!! I know you must be very proud of them...

Thank you for recommending SOC to others. Dan would be very happy! I joined in July of 2005, but Dan began a small little board about ten years earlier than that. AMC is his baby, and was the soap that began what eventually became SOC. Thank you also for your kind comments. We try very hard to make it a friendly place to post, and to keep it running as smoothly as possible. With so many posters, that can be a challenge on some days! LOL...

I enjoy coming over here because it's a much smaller group, and is more of a personal chat board. Most of us got to know each other on SOC, though, and primarily on the OLTL board.

Very cute little ones you have there...

The OLTL board, which at the time was not always ran as nicely as AMC is...there were some seriously hateful posters over there.

Sundancer, I met all the kids here on the SOC OLTL board. Another woman and I used to do a live post there every weekday at 2 p.m. EST and had such a great fun time of it until we were shut down by (sadly) a very new and officious moderator who, as it turns out, ended up having some pretty devastating problems of his own before he quit his position at SOC. I joined there in December of 2004 and now only turn up about once a month, if that, on the Y&R section of SOC.

I have grandkiddies too!! Their faces are somewhere in the family photo section, I'm sure. My 3 sons are all grown up in theory, and I'm sure I don't need to say that it means nothing, we are still mommies to them no matter. The eldest has the kids, the middle one is a traveller working on his PhD in linguistics and AI, youngest is taking time off his MBA to teach skiing at Whistler until the Olympics all over. We are dual citizens of the USA and Canada, living in Toronto. Some of us were born here, others in the USA.

Again, welcome to our board. Ask questions of me if interested. I never know where to stop offering information, end up easily boring the heck out of someone.
