Another bright and freezing day here as we missed the nor'easter that has hit the east coast so hard this week. We still have a huge high pressure arctic front over us, keeping us a little on the nippy side, but with the sun out, it's really all okay.
We were up really early this morning. Ted left before 8 and I was up with him before 7. I'm almost ready for lunch, lol. This is my father's birthday today. We made arrangements last night to all head off to the Keg for an early Saturday dinner, the 9 of us, as Mike will be back from NZ super early Friday morning. Tony and Ted are both stuck downtown all day so the tea party my d-i-l was going to hold for the birthday cake got chucked. I'll tell my parents to come on over here for a cup and a cookie or two instead. As long as I am not exhaling over 300 on the little gizmo thing I have to blow in, I shouldn't be going outdoors in this cold. I am only up to about 270 so far. And I am getting cabin fever, lol.
Happy Birthday to your father, KaeEll. It sounds like you've got a good plan going to celebrate the occasion!
Jim is back at work this morning, and our son was actually in yesterday because he lives close to a Metro station. It's sunny, and I think that this is going to end up being my "perfect" snow: gorgeous the day it falls, and then gone in a day or two!
NC-daughter has an interview today, and is nervous. She and boyfriend/significant other Loren called us yesterday with some good news, though. As you know, Loren was a theater major, and has been working fairly consistently through community theater down there in Raleigh. He's done mostly Shakespeare, but last year got the lead in a Woody Allen comedy. Well, he was just cast again as the lead in another comedy, "Lend Me a Tenor". He's very excited because this production is with Raleigh Little Theatre which isn't so "little" down there! It's also going to run eleven nights. We're very happy and proud. In the meantime, he still has his day job at a Raleigh museum. Loren has always said that he would do anything to support himself while establishing his experience and reputation as an actor, other than waiting tables. Too cliche!!
Sounds like you guys are having a more exciting morning then me. We woke up to a little more snow and extremely cold temps. I believe its somewhere around 14. Its suppose to warm up to a whole 30 tomorrow, I think that's what I heard. I am SO ready for spring. I want to see some green grass and some flowers already.
Kae sounds like your dinner this weekend will be great, I love those big family dishes and good news for you since its a night out that means no clean up.
I hope your breathing and all gets back to normal soon. I can only imagine the stir crazy.
Moore, YAH for Loren, how exciting. Will you guys be able to drive down to see the show? And prayers for NC-D. I know she will do great at the interview.
Hurray for Loren!! And good luck to NC-D today. The job market is so scary right now.
Okay, so here (in a minute) is a little wee thing I found on the floor of the front hall last night. It doesn't belong here, that's for sure. Anyone have the faintest idea what the heck it could be? My one idea is that it fell off an old mink coat Marilyn had on yesterday when she came over for tea. She literally picked it up (the coat) at a yard sale for nothing, Could it have fallen off the coat? (She is already at work, so no answer at her house.)
Shelly, I will say that it IS bitter cold down here this morning, although the sun is out. Sorry about your additional snow! We will most definitely drive down to NC to see Loren's performance, but of course I'm ALREADY a nervous wreck!
Hmmm.... It's difficult to tell, but it looks like it belongs on the top of a lampshade. What does the bottom look like?

Haha, Kae...I was looking at the picture and all I was seeing was the sun glasses. I like the lamp shade idea Moore had. It does look like that.
And yes Moore, a friend of mine lives in the DC area...I think somewhere around Manasses and she posted pictures of your wonderful snowfall from yesterday. I hope it does warm up enough for some of it to melt.
Happy to hear you guys will get to see Loren's performance. Make sure you stock up on the Bach's stuff before you go.
LOL, I stuck my sunglasses in there for scale. It would be the tiniest lamp shade finial ever. It looks exactly like one but ever so much smaller. The underneath is hollow with no teeny threads as it would have were it a finial for a lamp. I sent Marilyn the pictures of it so she can respond when she gets back from teaching later today. Such an insignificant little thing but it bugs me.
Haha, thats funny. While I was reading the post with the picture I kept glancing down and seeing just the sunglasses. It wasn't until i actually opened the picture that I noticed the little knob looking thing.
Some kind of button or just design makes the most sense after the lamp shade thing. You will have to let us know when you find out what it is. I am beyond curious now.
Ok guys tomorrow is the big day. I'm nervous as all get out! I hope I'll get this all dropped tomorrow and tell my side and the judge will see the truth
