Thursday

Like a hole in the head I needed getting another cold, but after spending Sunday and Monday with the two sniffling little ones, I got one again. Typhoid Mary had nothing on those two kids. So I'm staying home, quietly nursing this thing. It's a crummy day out today anyway.

Nick called last night and he's coming home for 3 weeks at the end of April. It will have been 7 months since we last saw him. Mike called yesterday too. He almost didn't make it back to the mainland as the ice-breaker ferry had a hard time with some of the floes, but after 6 hours of banging up and down, they did arrive back in Nova Scotia, a little green, but in one piece. The band had a great reception in Newfoundland. He'll be back here on Sunday and the young lady from NZ arrives the next day.

What's up today?

Dear heavens Kae, have you ever tried that Airborne stuff. Supposedly it was invented by some teacher who was always catching something from the little ones. Seems the same strand of cold keeps going around and around. Its happening here too. One of the elders was home sick last night, and he was out of commition a little over a week ago. Such a mess. We had french dip last night at church and let me tell you..it was SO good.

And that is awesome that you guys will get to see Nick again. 7 months is a long time. And blech for Mike's rough travels.

Anyways, nothing new here. I am now to the point where I don't want to work anymore. Its just too tiring. And Vinnie heads south today. So that's not so fun either. Will be in VA for a day and then heads down to Georgia. So we are on our own again for the next 3 weeks. Fun fun..

I haven't had French dip in so many years, but I used to have it for my lunch almost every day! YUM.

KaeEll, I can't believe you have another cold. I mean SERIOUSLY, we're going to have to rent you a condo in the Bahamas somewhere until June. It really is a losing battle, though, when you're around little ones. I remember the days when Jim and I used to get sick every November and stay sick until April. Every year!

Good news about your guys! I know you're very happy about that, and also looking forward to meeting the girlfriend. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she'll be fabulous.

Shelly, I know that three weeks is going to feel more like three months to you this time around. Tired, tired, tired, but you don't have too much longer to go. Hang in there!

It's rainy here today, but my forsythia is a nice cheerful yellow patch in the middle of this dreary day. I have dolls to make, but have been proscrastinating. I really do have to hop on it!

I had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory yesterday with my longtime childhood friend. After our other playmate passed away about six weeks ago (the one who was my next-door neighbor), my VERY best friend and I decided that we need to make an effort to see each other more frequently. Her mother is still alive, and I consider her to be my one last living parent! Lunch was very nice; my friend is a dedicated vegetarian, so I always try to honor that when we're out together, and not have meat in front of her, but I did have a little prosciutto on a portion of my pizza. I brought home some cheesecake to share with Jim.

Shelly, I haven't heard of the airborne thing. Info, please? And Moore, if you notice, I'm still in Barbados and it hasn't helped, lol.

Shelly, do what Moore says and hang in there!! None of us want the babies to make their debut without Vinnie. At least he won't be too far away this time.

I have met Mike's gf before. She was here last summer on her way back to NZ from visiting her mother in Germany. She left her family and moved to NZ when she was only 20 years old, all alone, and as far away as she could get. Pretty gutsy in my book. Anyway, when she settled in NZ a Maori family kind of adopted her and she considers them more her parents that the ones back in Germany. She talks exactly like a Kiwi, not a trace of a German accent. You'd never know she wasn't raised there by listening to her. And she is very athletic too, loves hiking and surfing, so Mike at least has a companion in those pastimes. That's new for him.

I don't know a lot about it myself, but have heard people who like it. Also the Zinc things..like coldeeze helps too.

Here is a link Airborne

Yeah, I am trying to rest. And I have people on stand by just in case. Figure if I am prepared in that way then I won't need it. I have plenty of people I can call on, and just added a girl friend to the list of people who can pick Jolene up at daycare. Still need to pack my bag for the hospital but I can't remember what all needs to go in it. How sad eh?

Anyways, have another ultra sound this afternoon. Will post pics when I get home

KaeEll, I've never used Airborne, but have heard it really works. It was developed by a teacher who was sick of being sick!

Shelly, we're looking forward to those pictures.

Speaking of pictures, I decided to take a couple of the forsythia, and of our plum tree, just to convince everyone that spring is really coming. Unfortunately, it's a very grey day, so the colors don't look like they would in sunlight, but hopefully it's enough to pick up everyone's spirits a bit. The forsythia picture was taken from the lower level of our deck, and the plum tree from the upper level. Plants are still looking pretty scruffy, but that should change soon. I hope...

There are a couple of other forsythia shrubs in back, but this one was the prettiest. After everthing is finished blooming, they all need to be cut way back so they'll look better next year. They're also spreading a bit too much!

[PS: I don't know why the one picture of the plum tree doesn't want to show itself, but if you click onto "view image" you can still see it. Just tempermental, I guess...]

Aww, you are making me anxious for the trees here to start blooming. They haven't yet. I need to get out and take more naked tree pictures though before they start. Am trying to get lots of pictures taken before we move at the end of the year.

Gorgeous spring hope pictures! Yay for spring. I ought to snap a few of the mud hole that is our back yard this time of year. But it's depressing, lol. What I will try to capture is that demon spawn chipmunk back from his winter condo in our garage. He parks his chittering little butt on the front porch tormenting my poodle, the miserable little beast.

The Airborne link doesn't work for me. :( I'll google it.

Looking forward to the ultrasound pics too, Shelly. Are you 32 weeks now? Four more to go to be safe?

Well we got drilled with snow out here in Colorado. Left work at 10:45, didn't get home to 3 hours later. Had to go back out and get food and things for me and the daughter. So areas are closing, travel on one of our major highways is being truly advised against and we have more bad weather on the way. Woohoo!

Yucky to that bad weather. Are you getting what just left Jojo?
Kae I am just shy of 32 weeks. I think, by a few days. She didn't actually tell me what we were measuring at. Angela is weighing in around 3/11 and Grace is 3/7. So almost 4 pounds and still another month til safe point. I am happy knowing that they won't be smaller then 5 pounds, at least its unlikely.

She didn't post pictures. Apparently the bigger the babies get the harder it is to see everything. The few shots she showed me I had a hard time distinguishing what was what.

Thanks Sundancer. I'm in Virginia, just outside of Washington, DC...
