Saturday Spring Fever!

It's GORGEOUS here today. I just got home half an hour ago to a bunch of phone messages: Mike is on his way to Pembrooke from Montreal, Tony is out looking at cars (he can't fit his family in the old one), Nick is mourning the loss of a ski buddy killed in Italy (he was a stunt skier and was killed doing stunts for a movie) and Marilyn's younger son's wife had a baby boy a week early this morning at 7, Evan James. Babies all over the place.

So what's up with you today? Do you have spring fever too? I know I shouldn't get too excited but I did let Ted put away the shovels and the rock salt. I might regret that but I'll live dangerously, lol.

It is beautiful here. Although it didn't quite hit 50 it sure felt great all day. When we woke it looked like rain but it went away and is now starting to return. Which is fine. I can handle rain, it helps my daffodils and tulips.

We had a Mexican lunch at a friends today. It was awesome. One of the hardest things for me to find in a restaurant is good enchiladas, so it was nice that that is what she made. She is also doing flautas for my shower next Saturday. Hard to believe its so soon. And the woman who taught me how to do that Minnie cake I did for Jolene a couple years back is going to be doing my cake. Which means it will be really good and very pretty.

Anyways, I am off to the store. We have potluck at church tomorrow and I have decided I want to make a brisket. So I need to go buy it. I think I will throw it in the crock pot tonight and let it cook overnight that way it will only need to be set on warm tomorrow morning. Hopefully that is how it will work anyways.

Oh, and so sad to hear about Nick's friend. That is just terrible. But YAH for Tony getting a new car. Hope he can find a big one at a good price.

You see -- I promised you guys that spring would come! I think we're switching weather, though, because we've had rain here since yesterday. That's okay. I'm glad to share some pretty weather with you.

KaeEll, I saw the news on the skier. I'm so sorry. He was too young to die like that, and such a shame for his wife and young daughter. A very nice looking man too. Have they found out what went wrong? He seemed to be very experienced at taking these kinds of chances...

Shelly, I'm jealous over your delicious Mexican food. Now you've given me the taste for it!

I'm making dolls this weekend because we're supposed to hang our spring exhibit on Wednesday. I've been procrastinating, so now I have to work really hard. And fast! I'm hoping that more people participate this year, but the quilters will be displaying with us again this year, so that removes a little bit of the burden.

Okay. Back to sewing...

Nick wrote an article yesterday about the skier's death in his Whistler Watch blog. If interested, scroll through today's stuff to read it. There's an explanation for the fatal accident.

R.I.P. Shane McKonkey

Today we have that rain. Happy trees and birds!

It's so tragic, KaeEll. Often catastrophic accidents are caused by one minor issue that spins everything else out of control... So sad for his family.

Yes, it's horrible. If I live to be 100 years old I will never understand dare devils, but some people thrive on that kind of thrill and inevitably die from it as well. But nonetheless, it's really sad.

Oh, I misspelled Shane's last name. It's McConkey with a C not a K. I tried to fix it but lost my link then had a lazy attack.
