Okay so in all seriousness, the level of bad guy in soaps has reached an all new low. Where are my crazy Stefano DiMera, plotting to take over all corporations Adam Chandler, etc? Seriously, why are all the bad guys half-baked? And why is everyone "edgy" now?
Sonny Corinthos is a "bad guy" with a heart. Jason from GH is a "edgy" guy. Where's my bad guy that will shoot Luke Spencer because he likes to see people bleed? Where's the bad guy that blows up a portion of a police department because they had to destroy a piece of evidence? Not anywhere to be found.
I'm all for good guys winning. I'm all for the bad guy with a soul here, edgy boy over there. There's too many of them. And when we do get the right type of bad guy, they're here and gone in a few months. Closest we've gotten was Anthony on GH. But nope, he's gone so we can see more of Claudia try and get knocked up so Sonny doesn't find out she plotted to kill him and it got his kid shot.
Too many schemers, not enough evil masterminds.

Well, Helena is suppose to be making a return. Who knows what she will bring with her, I kind of think that Rebecca is her doing. And FBI guy is probably going to turn out bad.
There are plenty of scoundrels and bad guys at Y&R. The odd truly evil character is brought in for short periods but most viewers get sick of them pretty fast and they're killed off. These evil guys actually become too cartoonish after a few weeks and I think it's wise to get rid of them rather than weave them into the stories. On OLTL we had the truly loathsome Carlo Hesser, Margaret Cochrane, Mitch Laurence and Victor Lord, but I always found those stories awfully silly and in the end, would rather not have had them around quite as long as we did.
I don't know why OLTL, for example, chose to eliminate the likes of RJ yet kept the ever nauseating and one dimensional Todd. It's probably the same logic that ruined the soap enough for me to stop watching it regularly. David Hayward over in Pine Valley is evil, wouldn't you say? Yes, he's a schemer and all, but no way could his character be construed as a mediocre villain.
I kind of think that they have pushed David almost too far. He is almost irredeemable. I can't speak for either AMC or OLTL though as I haven't really watched either one in awhile...it is sad.
And Adam Chandler has gotten pretty weak compared to who he use to be.
