Good morning! Here we are at the start of another spring weekend. What is everyone up to? I have a busy Saturday planned. I have to take Tess to the vet's office to have her drains removed. She is doing very well in her recovery from surgery. I need to be in Windham, NH, for 1:00 this afternoon. I am learning how to do the Saturday transportation for my animal rescue group. They use an amazing company, Peterson's pet transportation, to bring the dogs up from Arkansas. The web site for the transportation company is www.petsllc.net.
It can be very chaotic when they arrive, with new adoption families, and foster families picking up their dogs. It is chaotic, but truly an incredible moment, when the dogs are coming off of transport. It is truly a lifeline that takes animals from potential euthanasia to their lives in New England. Today three of my home visits will meet their new dogs. I can't wait to see it. Two of the dogs were rescued on the day that they were scheduled to be euthanized.
Anyway, enough of my dog activities... It has become very important in my life, if you can't tell. On Sunday, I am going over my parent's house. I have not seen them since the day after my surgery, when they went back to Ireland, so it will be good to see them. I also need to get some serious housework done around here. My house is missing that clean sparkle, I can't believe how dusty everything is. The dogs have been tracking in dirt and sand, because the lawn is not back yet, and it has been raining every other day here. Thank goodness for my Hover floormate. It is tied for being my favorite house cleaning appliance, that and my Dyson animal vacuum cleaner. With three dogs, I definitely need all of the help I can get to keep everything clean. I also have a white kitchen floor. I don't know what I was thinking when I made that decision...
Doggies and housework are up there with my Saturday too! We have the big grocery shopping as well and with 2 extra people, it's a major increase. I can't believe how much apple juice we go through now, not that I'm complaining. Yesterday afternoon Mike decided against finding a place in the countryside for the month before moving into a city based flat, so it looks like he and Maya will be here with us until May 1.
Tomorrow is Vanessa's family birthday party, a 2 o'clock tea with special cupcakes I ordered from the bakery. Her big blow out party with little friends is today, and we're not invited, lol. There seems to be a new pecking order amongst the young parents for this party-giving business that I find rather amusing. I don't ever remember throwing different parties for different groups of people for the same event, but then again I went to the trouble of trying to conserve my energy for more important things, like breathing. What do I know.
The rain finally stopped last night and today is overcast and cold at 3C. It's a fireplace day.
Just doing a quick drive by. I am off to let the people at cost cutters wash and blow dry my hair. Then off to the shower. Should be fun. Will post pictures. We are at 32 weeks, I will make sure to have someone snap a picture of me and my belly.
Sophia, it's so good to see you posting again! We really missed you. I'm very impressed with your dog rescue/adoption work, and also very proud of you. As a dog owner and lover, I believe this to be terribly important.
I've been busy this past week, and am now beginning to emerge. I wanted to give you guys a couple of links because one of my doll club members has two very talented daughters! One is an artist who sells her work on Etsy. The other is an actress who is starring in a four-person production of The Three Muskateers, at Georgetown. She's also directing the show, and did the fight choreography.
My friend Dot is such a quiet woman who might not even be noticed in a room! She's a talented dollmaker, and has certainly produced two very talented daughters. Here are a couple of links:
I taught swimming the first half the day. Shelly, you will have to let us know how the diaper shower goes. Do you unwrap a box of diapers and act surprised?? You will be needing twice as many diapers and those mothers iwth one baby at a time!
Well it was another wonderful day in NH. I helped out with walking the dogs that are going up to Maine to go into foster care. I had an eleven week old puppy. Her name is Tinkerbell. Let me tell you she was quite the character. I was trying to walk her, and she started letting out howls, you would have though that I was killing her. I had about fifty people turn and look at me. I was horrified. She definitely did not enjoy her trip up north! Here is her listing on petfinder.com. Tinkerbell
The families that I did the home visits for were amazing when they saw their dogs. It was love at first sight all around.
I took Tess to see the vet this morning. They only removed one of her drains, we have to go back on Monday. I have their last appointment of the day, at 4:45 PM. Another day I will have to run out of the office. Ouch! That will be four out of five work days leaving early because of Tess. Thank goodness they are so good. She is doing well, but acting very strange. She will not leave my side, and needs to be touching me. Since she is 95+ pounds, this is very interesting to say the least. I keep on tripping over her. She is doing well health wise, the vet said that she is healing very well, it's just different to have her as velcro dog.
Anyway, I have a mellow night planned, and then house work in the morning, then the dog trainer will be here around noon, to start with the agility training for the two young dogs, and then my parents around 2:00. It will be relaxing to go back to work on Monday!
Aww, Tinkerbell is a cute little pup. Looks like she may be a bit of a hand full.
The shower was good. Got lots and lots of diapers. Sundancer, a lot of the diapers simply only had a ribbon on it. I wasn't picky at all about brands so we got lots of different kinds. I got mostly newborns but I think that the girls will be in newborn size stuff longer then most babies. I don't expect them to be bigger then 6 pounds at birth. Got lots of wipes and clothes as well. I think I counted 6 of the little plastic boxes. So that will be nice.
Moore so nice to see you are doing okay, Kae told us you had lots of doll business this week but its still nice when you get to pop in and say hello.
Here are some pictures...The baby, was my cake. And the thing that looked like a cake was actually a diaper thing that looked like a cake.
Glad your doggie is doing well, Sophia! And that Tinkerbell is a cutie!!
Shelly, great pics! That cake is so great! I love it. I wish I knew someone who made stuff like that. It woulda been great for my SIL's shower.
I've had a rather lazy Saturday. Not much to do, in all this stupid snow. It started snowing last night, and has finally stopped, but it's supposed to pick back up again tonight and snow all day tomorrow too. There were easter egg hungs scheduled for today, but I figure with all this snow those were called off. I can't believe it's April 3rd, and we're stuck inside. Horrible! It wasn't as bad as the last 2 snows that shut down the town and school. We were able to get out and go to the library since Jack's books were due today. We did that, and I made a quick stop at the Fashion Bug for some underwear. I LOVE their underwear. I never thought I'd get excited about undies, LOL. Other than that, we've been stuck inside, and we certainly don't have anything planned for tomorrow.
Kae, I sure wish I had a fireplace on days like these! And happy birthday to Vanessa! Too funny about the separate parties. I'm doing good just to throw ONE for Jackson.
Moore, that production looks fab! And I couldn't see the Etsy page link.
Shelly great pictures! JoJo, I can't believe that you are still having snow! We actually have the lawns turning green here in Massachusetts. It is around 60 degrees here today. I have all of the windows open, and the dogs are having a blast outside.
Moore, those are great links. KaeEll, have fun with the birthday party, it sounds like it should be a blast, the kids grow-up so quickly!
