It's still not very nice out there today, but nothing to be done about that.
Yesterday was lots of running around, plans changing every half an hour as our expected guest missed her flight into town and wouldn't be arriving until 9:30, too late for dinner. Anyway, it's all over now, and I'm staying in all day waiting for the installer to come put three more sets of California shutters up in Nick's room and Ted's office area.
Here's a great tip my shopping friend, Janice, gave me. She and her husband last summer had to completely decorate their oldest daughter's brand new apartment while she was off in Italy and arriving back to her first day of teaching at U of T. They were on a tight budget, so for carpet, they went to the Habitat for Humanity retail outlet in Brampton, a short drive from their place, and bought for $40 enough broadloom for the living room and bedroom!! Apparently, the carpet is donated, ends of runs, etc., and is sold to anybody that walks in. So that's what Ted and I are going to do this weekend so we can cover the flood damaged floor (that we just had laid) in Nick's room before he comes back a week today. I'm sure that there are H for H outlets near you guys too. Who'd have thought of THAT?! And it's really nice carpeting too!
Thanks so very much for all the wonderful suggestions for our nasty back yard. I'll post some photos of it when we are finished fixing it up.
I love the Habitat idea, we have one of those stores by us. Not only is the stuff at a seriously reduced price but you are in essence giving money to build someone a house. That's awesome to me.
Glad yesterday was productive for ya. Nothing on my agenda. I actually have a great deal amount of work to get through. Yuck.
KaeEll, I didn't know that Habitat for Humanity had outlets! I'm going to check for one in my area right now...
It's chilly, but pretty here today. Yesterday's weather was bizarre. It was sunny and cold, but then dark clouds rolled in, and we got sleet again. Then more sun...
I have a few errands to run today, and laundry to do. Exciting.
