Saturday, July 11

First of all, I'm thinking of you, Moore, and sending all good wishes for you with an IV drip, getting all better. I hope you had a decent night's rest.

We're in the middle of a huge thunder storm belt today. Ted's glued to the bike thing in Europe but he'll head off to do the heavy grocery shop soon, then we're off to baby sit for a couple of hours while Tony and his wife pick out their new minivan. At 6:30 we're due at Marilyn's annual dinner party that she has just before she heads off to Nova Scotia to her cottage for the rest of the summer. It's right at the very very bottom of the province, right on the Atlantic. Tres gorgeous!!

I had a busy week with painters, tree trimmers, electricians, plumbing problems in the main bathroom, mini crises with my parents, (as usual) and Ted in a foul mood as he insisted upon doing the plumbing himself. It would have taken a plumber 15 minutes and cost us $90. Instead Ted took the DAY off work and spent the entire day, breaking drill bit after drill bit and swearing like a trooper. I could not wait to get out of the house!! It's kind of, sort of fixed. He's beginning to feel better but is still smarting from that experience.

Mike , Maya and two young people from France (Mike's friend from when he lived in the Dominican Republic - the guys worked together there) have been hot-footing it around the province on a sight-seeing tour for Benoit and Lucille. They went to see the falls at Niagara, did a wine tour of Southern Ontario, had a picnic in Niagara By The Lake, went camping in Algonquin, then off to the Kiwartha Lakes were Mike's band had a gig at a summer resort. They'll be back tomorrow night. Then the French kids head off to Banff for the last 10 days of their trip to Canada. Last week we had Maya's brother and his girlfriend here. He lives in Germany but met the young lady while doing a semester abroad in Ireland and she's from Cleveland. Talk about a long distance romance, but not as bad as Mike and Maya who are from different hemispheres. I used to date based on geographic availability, lol. How I ended up with a boy from Kansas is another story, so I guess the apples don't fall far from the tree. Nick is currently madly in love with a girl from Montreal, a Francophone one at that, and French was never a strong point with that kid. Oh well.

So what's doing this weekend? What are you guys up to? Yay! It's stopped raining.

Hi Kae!

I guess love really does know no boudaries, eh?

Nothing fun going on here. Just getting some lunch and hope to start a good book today.

Not much going on here, am having difficulties with Jolene as she is regressing and has had an accident in her pants for the last week. Todays was bad enough that I had to strip her down and put her in the bathtub. Ugh, I hope this doesn't last too long.

Kae what an adventure your kids have. And then you have Tony buying a nice sensible mini-van. Do they know what they are having? Have you already told us and I forgot?

Jodi how is that book?

Moore you are in my thoughts

We just got home from baby sitting and have an hour before having to leave for Marilyn's.

Tony and Karin decided upon a Ford Flex. They took one for a test drive and really liked it a LOT. They'll buy it outright, brand new. It looks kind of like a jazzed up station wagon.

Karin decided not to find out what she's having this time, said it doesn't matter, lol. She's a lot bigger with this baby than she ever was before giving birth, so I'm hoping this time she'll either carry to full term or at least have a 6 pounder.

Shelly, Vanessa is having little accidents now too, in fact she had one while Ted and I were there today. It's a natural thing and no, it doesn't last too long. It tries one's patience but it''s pretty normal. I remember way back when Mike was born that Tony did the same thing. And just as I was so sure all that was well behind us, it started up all over again, LOL.

I'm off to try to glamorise myself for the evening, sort of...

Thanks Kae, it really does try your patience. I mean I shouldn't have to carry around extra underwear for a 4 year old. Ugh
Anyways, have fun at Marilyn's sounds like a fun night. We are going to catch the Ice Age 2 that is on tv tonight. I want to take Jolene to see the third one but want to make sure that she isn't afraid first.

Just picked up the new SOD, says that Phillip tells Jill he is Gay...I suppose you had likely read that already

We had a wonderful evening last night with Marilyn, the lady in red, her Welsh friend Morwenna, grey hair, Venetia, the blonde, Mustafa, the Egyptian guy with a laugh that filled the garden, his lovely wife, Sue, Ted and me, the "photographer". We started off with coconut shrimps, then fresh salmon, pork tenderloin, two salads and finished off with mousse cakes and decaf. I slept like a log last night and we woke up to 12 degrees C!! (That's nippy.) Yipes, crazy summer this year.

As soon as I've finished my coffee, I have to haul myself into the kitchen to make my father's request of meatballs in home-made marinara sauce. Grr.

Have a happy Sunday!
