Arizona-daughter left early this morning for a trip to Chicago, to visit Kyle for a week. She'd shopped very carefully for an inexpensive ticket, and managed to find a great deal. When she got to the airport at 5:30 a.m., she was asked if she wanted to upgrade to a first-class seat for only $100.00 extra. She was so surprised, she thought that she was being scammed at first, but it was the real deal. She hates to fly as much as I do, so she grabbed the chance to upgrade her ticket, and she was still way under what a regular ticket would have been, if she hadn't shopped it so well.
She's now safely in Chicago, and had a fantastic flight. Jim and I told her that she's never going to be happy in coach again, and she realizes that's probably true. The main thing for her is that she had plenty of leg room which helps when you're a lanky 5'-10", as she is...
She reported that the food was delicious! I'm just glad that she arrived safely.
Holding my breath here as I'm having major computer problems. Hardware problems. I have tried posting but then computer craps out.... I'll try to keep in touch somehow until this gets sorted out. No e mail either. I can receive, not send.
Now I have e mail again, but this other hardware thing is infuriating. Tony asked me to wait a month when he's going to install some new something or another and it should fix most of the problem. I'd rather just go to the Apple Store...
Moore, Kindle's been in the news up here, problem with Amazon jumping the gun deleting books. Too Orwellian. I'll see if I can post the article.
Good afternoon ladies...and Brandon if you decide to make an appearance. How was your weekend. Moore I agree about your AZ-D now being spoiled by business class. It really is the nice way to travel. I hope she has fun in IL
And Kae what a pain that is for you about your computer. I hate when this thing doesn't work the way it is suppose to.
Seems my computer has taken a break from crashing and making me crazy, for a little while anyway.
Moore, I tried to tell you earlier about how I once took a first class ocean voyage from NYC to Genoa, took 7 days, and ever afterwards, economy class in anything felt like steerage!! Poor AZ daughter is going to have a long row to hoe now, LOL!!!
KaeEll, it's funny that you should mention the uproar over Amazon because, for some reason, I decided to read some of the most recent Kindle reviews two days ago. As you know, Jim and I love our Kindles, but we have the Kindle 1. I went directly to the one-star reviews rather than the five stars... It was the first time I'd heard of the book deletions, and I told Jim that we ned to start saving our books on computer. I also printed out all of my electronic purchase from my account.
One reviewer said that it's akin to having a publisher decide to discontinue publication of a book, which is certainly their choice, but then coming into your house to yank your copy off of your bookshelf!
This is all so strange because one of the thing that Amazon's owner was so proud of, and one of the selling features, was that, once purchased, and no matter what might happen to your Kindle (lost, etc.), those books would never have to be repurchased and could be downloaded again at no cost.
Very strange... I imagine that something will be worked out.
Also, it seems that some people prefer their Kindle 1 to the upgraded Kindle 2. For now, Jim and I are still very happy with ours, and have no plans to upgrade anytime soon. Maybe by version 5 they'll have some of these issues worked out!
AZ-daughter will definitely miss that first-class treatment from now on, I'm quite sure! It certainly was a much better travelling experience than the last time, when she was pulled out of line, and her shoes searched. LOL...
