Finally! Shoes for this barefoot girl...

Why didn't I invent these?!

Five Fingers (Shoes)

Foot gloves!!

If you do get a pair, you must tell us how they feel on. Weird looking, non?

I am waiting for the TV repair man and the telephone repair guy this morning. We have no land phone and no flat screen here and my computer is still crashing and freezing all the time. Now I'm thinking that the squirrels ate through the phone line outside, hungry little varmints. They have done that 4 times before. You'd think the phone company would put something protective on the lines, but no, that would be too easy.

On a happy front, the outside city workers strike here in Toronto was resolved early this morning after 36 days. No garbage pick up, no city daycare or any other programmes for the kiddies, no swimming pools, just a big stink. Argh. But of course we still must pay our taxes.

My biggest beef is the rental house at the top of the street here with weeds up to my shoulders! Ordinarily, when a neighbour complains, the city goes in and mows it all down, then adds the fee to the owner's tax bill. In this case, my calls went unanswered and now the thistles are in full bloom, a very bad thing as their seeds will blow everywhere. Thistles are a huge no-no around here and with the NO herbicide law in effect, we all had to dig up unwanted plants by hand. I wonder how long it will take for them to come take care of this menace now.

The shoes DO remind me of the cute toe-socks, which I also loved. I didn't have any of my own, but NC-daughter had several pairs in great colors! Shelly, I'm a flip-flop girl too, when I have to leave home.

KaeEll, I think your neighbors yard sounds a bit like ours! LOL... We had to call someone in about a month ago because what was supposed to have been done last year never was, so it was completely out of control. We still have more to do.

I think that I might be inclined to sneak over there in the dark of night with a little Agent Orange. Well, maybe Round-up would be easier to come by, but go for a moonlight stroll, and spray along the way! Or just keep complaining until someone gets sick of hearing from you!

Did I ever tell you the story of the rodents on the convent property that backs onto ours? This was when I was pregnant with AZ-daughter. If not, I'll be happy to tell you of my ordeal... HORRIBLE!

As for your cables and phone, if your cable company won't put something over the wires to protect them, maybe you can get some lamp cord protectors, and stick them around the wires. You've probably seen what I'm talking about. You can find long plastic half-tubes that go over the cords, and stick to the wall, or more expensive brass ones that go all the way around.

We finally broke down and put a land line in Jim's basement office because we were sick of having no alternative around here (other than cell phones) when the power goes out!

Moore, Round-Up and the like have been banned and are not available at all here. I wish....

I did manage to get through to the local city council member's office and the woman was snarly and pissy because she'd been inundated with calls from the neighbours about that horrible yard. She said "I'm ON it". I should nip out and take a pic, make you feel SO much better about your weeds.

As for the lamp cord protectors, I'd love to but the wires are WAY up high and Ted's not allowed to climb high any more, lol. I made him sell his big, big ladder on craigslist. Yesterday afternoon one of the roof vent covers was blown off and when he got home he snuck up on the roof to replace it. Naughty, naughty.

Glad to hear you have a land phone alternative. I still remember the big blackout of 2004 when we had to haul upstairs our only hard wired phone and we were SO grateful to have had it.
