On Saturday, Daytime Confidential reported that sources close to them were telling them that Beth Ehlers, who plays Taylor Thompson on All My Children, run on the soap was coming to an end. This morning, Soap Opera Digest confirmed that the rumors are true. The magazine reports that Ehlers and Taylor will be completely off the canvas by the time the studio doors of AMCs New York operation close in December.

Ehlers signed on to join the cast AMC in June of 2008 (first airing on July 24), leaving behind the very popular role of Harley Cooper on CBSs recently canceled Guiding Light, to join long-time on-screen love-interest Ricky Paull Goldin on the ABC soap. The re-matching of the popular GL pair flopped on AMC. Ehlers was with the cast of GL from 1987-1993, and from 1997-2008. The actress earned Daytime Emmy nominations for Lead Actress, Supporting Actress, and Younger Lead Actress in the role of Harley. On AMC, Ehlers was initially cast as a recast of Liza Colby, who has been played by Jamie Luner since April 2009, and slated for a hot triangle between Tad (Michael E. Knight) and Jake Martin (Goldin). AMC abruptly changed their minds and instead brought Ehlers in as a new character, an army brat with a chip on her shoulder. The actress recently made waves by making critical remarks about the acting ability of her popular co-star J.R. Martinez (Brot Monroe) on a radio interview; probably further hurting her case is the fact is that she also made critical remarks about AMC head-writer Charles Pratt Jr. in the same interview.

The 41-year old actress is the mother of two young sons. Ehlers departure makes for the second oddly-timed parting of ways that AMC has initiated in the past week. Like the recently fired Aiden Turner, Ehlers was reportedly one of the contract actors who confirmed that they were prepared to make the move with production of AMC to Los Angeles by the scheduled September 8 deadline.
