Happy Saturday!

Today its overcast, but not raining. The sun should peak out this afternoon giving us a high temperature of 66 F. I don't have any particular plans. What's going on with you?

Hi Linda! It's already Sunday here and the sun is shining, so I'll be happy today, lol. What a long and dreary winter this has been!

Yesterday was filled the the usual runnings here and there, but we did end up buying a new area rug that I had meant for the den but ended up putting in Nick's bedroom and stealing my old area rug back from there for upstairs. We ended up haggling with the Turkish carpet seller for a bit, not something I particularly like doing, but it's expected when dealing with the middle east chaps. We got a reasonably good price too, I think, although I'm sure he made a profit otherwise he'd not be in the business.

Today, a bright but cold one, is mostly going to be administrative odds and ends around here. I'll probably make a chicken curry for dinner, pick up my mother about 4 while my father is at the lectures downtown. We'll have a bite and take her home early and watch a bit of the Olympics before bed. I don't think I'll last more than a minute or two through that hockey game, though, LOL.

Nice rug!

Yesterday was pretty quiet around here. It's cold, but sunny again today and will probably be a quiet day again. Arizona-daughter moved into her new place yesterday, and still has plenty of boxes to unpack. The move went well, and the kitties are now exploring every corner of their new home.

Jim has been in a lot of pain lately, with his blown disc at the base of his spine. He's trying every which way to avoid having surgery until after we've gone out to Arizona for graduation. The location of the disc will mean that recovery from surgery this time will be much longer than it was the first time, with the disc replacement nearer to his neck. In the meantime, he's just about crazy from the ongoing pain, and the sudden jabs of pain that's even more extreme than what's already there!

Moore, I think my SIL will have to have her surgery done again as well. I guess its common for the surgery to have to be repeated. How sucky is that? I hope that Jim can hold off on it and be pain free as long as he can.

Anyways, woke up this morning with a 5 year old and gum in her hair. Was trying to avoid the messy peanut butter thing....Vinnie ended up putting Goo-Gone in her hair. It worked but was very orange-smelling. So 3 shampoos and conditioning later she is gum free....oh and she was treated with girl scout cookies and ice cream. I felt bad for her because the goo-gone was not a painless process. It hurt her quite a bit.

So, my dear sister was laid off on Friday. She is taking it well, thankfully they waited until after her wedding because now she gets military health care and now she has a husband to help support her. They are likely moving to S. Carolina within 6 months or so, so she may not even look for another architecture job. Just something to have fun with. She may volunteer too, that kind of stuff is fun.

So that is my weekend. I am tired enough thinking about it I am heading to bed...

Oh Shelly, that just totally SUCKS!! I'm so sorry. How horrible to have such a wet blanket thrown on her life, just after she was married. Boo Hiss to her employer.

Sharon is taking it really well...and I think that is partly why Sharon was one of the chosen. I think her boss knew she would be losing her soon enough because of moving.

Moore, so sorry to hear about Jim's pain. I hope the docs have prescribed a little sumpthin for him. Keep us updated on his surgery.

Shelly, that's awful about Sharon's surgery as well. Good luck to her and her new family. Does she know yet where in South Carolina she'll be?
