I know today is Monday, but I will pop in here anyways. Moore, I think that I will be making a trip up to DC during Jolene's spring break. Will be the first week of April. Do you think the cherry blossoms will be blooming? I want to see them. And I think we will do the zoo. Won't be there the whole week, but maybe a day or so.
Anyways, my ears are getting better. The nausea was bad but nothing was worse then my ears.
It's a spring cleaning day around here. I just tossed out tons of old icky stuff and unearthed some fairly creepy keepsakes. Yech. I also found Ted's stash of Christmas chocolates. heh heh heh I think he figured he'd found such a clever hiding place, then he forgot where it was.
Did anyone watch the award show last night? I stayed awake for most of it, in spite of myself, lol. Other than Miley Virus (thank you Vanessa for that one) wearing her grandmother's bathing suit, it was all as expected, non? It's as if all was predetermined and leaked out before the fact, like spoilers for a soap. LOL!!
On Saturday night we turned on a really AWFUL show that should have been a pretty good one about genealogy, "Who Do You Think You Are?". But alas, Sarah Jessica Parker was the featured "star" and she proved once and for all that she is as ditzy and stupid as I had long suspected. Gah.
Spring is in the air, but as we have all been warned for years up here,"Don't change a thread until April is dead". It's nice to enjoy it while we have it though. Now if I could only convince the neighbours to take down their Christmas decorations...
Shelly, that should be a nice time to visit. If we don't have too much rain around then, the Cherry Blossoms should be blooming. I think the Cherry Blossom Festival is near that time too. It can still be a little chilly during the first part of April, but it can also be unexpectedly warm! Factoid about myself: I rode on a float in a Cherry Blossom parade when I was a teenager, but I'm not telling the year! LOL... I was in a long, sleeveless gown, and nearly froze to death, despite the flimsy shawl I had, because the parade was first thing in the morning, and it was COLD!
I'm proud of you, KaeEll, for your spring cleaning. You've motivated me!
It's funny about the genealogy show. Arizona-daughter had called on Sunday to ask if we'd seen the show. (We hadn't.) With all of my interest in genealogy, she thought I'd enjoy it, so I ended up watching the full episode on my computer. I actually enjoyed it, because I think that it might bring a lot of people to the research. I could also very much relate to SJP's reactions to her discoveries, especially her stress over what involvement (which side) her Salem ancestor might have had with the witch trials: accused or accuser. About eight or nine years ago, I was given some unexpected information on an ancestor that rattled me for weeks!

Moore, you are almost always SO KIND and forgiving! That you could empathise with SJP is just an example of this. How incredible sweet of you to, once again, see the softer side. I feel like a rather crabby old fart, lol. In my defence, however, I will say that both Ted and I were rolling our eyes and cringing during SJP's melodramatic reaction.
Another spring-like day here in Toronto! It's only temporary, alas. Snow is on the way again.
Ted's off on day 2 of a three day course at the executive business school up at York University. Some woman with a resume dotted with bulls**t (Ted established that quickly enough) is giving a series of talks on development strategies. When Ted asked her to touch upon a particular subject he'd find a little more relevant, she said he ought to sign up for her course in THAT area, lol. All this for $2700 per person for a three day junket. There are 28 people in the class. Not a bad gig. What's that old expression about bulls**t baffling brains? Still applies. *sigh* He did say, however, that there were a few points he found somewhat helpful, so it's not a total waste of his time. And he DOES get home before 6, so that part's nice.
Tonight we're off to find a new dishwasher. Any advice? I was looking at Home Depot's sale and there's a GE no-nonsense one on sale for less than $400.
LOL!! KaeEll, that expression is one of my favorites, and I think it goes like this:
"If you can't dazzle them with your brilliance, then baffle them with your bullshit."
Appropriately enough, a LAWYER I used to work for told me that one years ago! LOL...
Anyway, you're not a grouch, KaeEll. I simply happened to relate a little more to SJP because of my own genealogical discoveries. It can be an emotional ride, especially when you get information out of the blue that you didn't expect to get. That's all...

I got a phone call in the middle of posting, so I forgot to add a comment about the dishwasher.
Ours is old now, but I've really liked it. It's a Whirlpool "Quiet Partner III", and what I really like is that it has a deep top rack, so I can fit stuff in it. Having said that, I'm sure that it'll probably die tomorrow afternoon, now that I've jinxed myself! LOL...

Thanks, Moore. The old dishwasher I had at the cottage for years and it took a royal beating, was a GE, so I've always been partial. I'll look at the Whirlpools.
Many years ago I learned a gut-wrenching horror story about one of my ancestors - disgusting, in fact. I think that helped me form a really strong crust. That came at a time when classmates and the kids I chummed with were bragging about their great-great-grandfathers being part of the country's Fathers of Confederation and the like. And others had ancestries in royal families on the Isle of Wight, lol. And there was me with this HORROR story I had to keep to myself. I suppose it made me somewhat immovable.
One of my cousins is an amateur genealogist, has lots of trees from here and there dating back to the underground railroad where a bunch of my paternal grandmother's people came from (southwestern Ontario), all UEL's originally from upstate NY state. That helped a little. But then he (cousin) went back, waaaay back, and learned that a bunch of them were marauding Vikings. I dunno, maybe some things are better left alone, lol.
