Happy Monday!

On Saturday my husband and I planted a small vegeable garden which included some tomato plants, bean seeds and some lettuce. I had been making a compost all winter by adding peelings, coffee grounds, etc. Well, we are also growing some potato plants because they sprouted from the potato peeling I buried there!

Yesterday my husband and I went to the German Festival. The weather was sunny and breezy for it.

Today late afternoon into evening I will be teaching swimming.

Compost is the magic trick, Sundancer! My father was the most amazing gardener, and he had a massive compost pile in the back corner of our property. It had been there for so many years, and was the ultimate example of "black gold". (I know that black gold means something else in Texas! LOL...) I'm sure you'll have many great veggies as a result of that compost.

It was rainy again today, and Jim was home sick with a nasty cold. He may stay home tomorrow too, which is completely unusual for him. I think he's just worn out from lack of sleep!

Tomorrow, I'm going to Woodlawn Planation to see the annual needlework exhibit. I used to go every year, but haven't for many years now. I'm determined NOT to miss this one, and there are only two days left!

Good morning all. I am very frustrated. We had planned on going up to DC next weekend but the darned Navy changed Brian's duty days so now he has duty that Saturday.

So I am thinking that during Spring break next week we will be making a day trip up there...I really am anxious to see the cherry blossoms.

Shelly, next week would be a really pretty time to come. I think that the Cherry Blossoms are supposed to be in full bloom then, and the forsythia is already nicely yellow.

Today, it's freezing cold and rainy, but I think it's supposed to be gorgeous tomorrow. (I may postpone my trip to Woodlawn, but if I miss it tomorrow, the exhibit will be gone!) I haven't been in the direction of downtown Washington, DC yet this spring, but I imagine that all the bulbs are also in bloom around the monuments, and by the bridges. It's been such a bizarre season weather-wise that it's hard to know!

I'll ask Jim what he's noticed during his commutes...

Just checked my credit and visited the Hyundai and Toyota dealers. I qualify rather nicely for their lease specials (yeah we like the thought of leasing this second vehicle for a shorter term) and I think we may have a RAV4 or Camry in our future. We'll just see how it plays out.

Good luck on the car leasing thing, Bran. My son has had a Toyota for the longest time and it has been wonderful.

Here's a little something for a chortle...

"lapses in etiquette?"

After baby-sitting the other day I got a stomach bug that really knocked me flat. I'm okay now, but yech. It hit so fast too.

The new dishwasher was installed yesterday - a Bosch, after all that hand-wringing and research. A real estate pundit (self-proclaimed) advised that stainless steel appliances are "on the way out" as "must-haves" so I bought a white one. I would have anyway considering the other appliances in the kitchen are new-ish and white. No more red, raw panny-paws from washing-up all the dishes. YAY.
