Brandon, I don't want to guess! The idea of losing our soaps makes me really sad...

I'm actually enjoying OLTL lately, so it's surprising to see it at the bottom. I may be alone in this.

It makes me sad too. just to think about how fast everything changes. There are so many choices out there it's not surprising that soaps in general have taken a hit. I'm not one to have much of an opinion on why OLTL has slid down the list to the bottom because I haven't watched it in so long, but if I don't watch it, and I'm a real Ludite, that must say something.

Even Y&R has lost me. Y&R!

The bottom line is they need to flush out the current writing groups and same goes for some of the executive management. No one on any soap right now is doing anything creative. They're all relying on the same old plot devices to get them through. You can only watch love triangle A repeat itself out to conclusion A, B or C so many times before you know what's coming and that you don't need to watch.

They're trying but ultimately, it's time for soaps to get the crap that's holding them back out of their systems. Unfortunately, no one at a top level can see that the wheels are just spinning and they're stuck in the dirt.

What's the difference between Y/R and a popular show like Desperate Housewives? Writing and the management staff. There's no reason for the ratings to dwindle, they're just not figuring out the problem and the problem is, you got nothing new. I'm not saying they need to reinvent the wheel, they just need to shine that wheel up and make it spin a different direction.

Well, for ONE thing, that idiot Brian Frons needs to go. That alone would remedy a whole bunch of problems with the ABC soaps!

Brandon, no argument from me about sloppy and lazy writing in both daytime and prime time TV shows. Writers simply aren't given a high enough bar to reach, and the networks won't pay good writers enough to produce anything remotely interesting, at least not on North American television

Money seems to make the entertainment world go round. When there's a lack of it left over after paying actors exorbitant sums for their portrayals, production expenses suffer. And so do the writers, or what they now call writers, lol.

Moore, it's been a while since I paid any attention to what Frons has been doing over at ABC, but if it's the status quo, is anyone surprised? He had his vision of what daytime should look like, and bless his little pointed head, I guess it hasn't changed much at all.

Recently I changed hair salons, the pharmacy I patronised for decades, the spa where I spent fortunes (for not much good, I'm afraid, lol) and the grocery store that I would shop in almost daily. I walk away with my little wallet and give my time, money and attention to the stuff that offends me the least. Ditto to the television.

Maybe, eventually, somebody will get the message, but I'm not holding my breath. I don't think they care.
