Unfortunately, our culture has been allowing this more and more, over the past couple of decades, and once it becomes acceptable on TV, it becomes acceptable in a teen's mind. I also blame comedians for making it okay.
Then there's the parents. If they use foul language at home, or allow their children to do it, then that also makes it okay. However, sometimes it's beyond the parents' control, because it's being used behind their backs, and becomes a habit. I also find that these words have somehow lost their shock value with kids; parents are offended to hear the potty words, but kids use them just like any other ordinary noun or adjective. Unfortunately, I've heard it from my own children, and they weren't raised that way!! I can say that for sure, because there are some words that just don't leave my lips...
Finally, as I used to tell my own children, using profanity on a regular basis (1) is not creative, (2) shows a lazy mind, (3) loses its shock value if used all the time, and (4) is more frequently used by those who have no ability (or vocabulary) to express themselves in a more articulate manner.
I had hoped that these arguments would instill enough pride in their own levels of intelligence to prevent them from every speaking some of the worst words, but unfortunately that was not to be. It still baffles me... Why would someone choose these kinds of words over something else that drives one's point home more effectively??
Sigh...

I can't even watch it, just reading the title is enough. I hate that word. Cuss words are bad enough but derogatory words are even worse. No woman/girl should ever be called something so disgusting. I hate when I am moderating and come across posters who use these words. Its just gross.
Yeah I thoroughly agree that this word is bad. And I agree I believe that swearing in general is way overdone. There's certain instances where I'd say dropping a few swears would be "appropriate" you know getting hit by car, shot, etc. or if you're playing a movie role and that's your character. But swearing has gone over the top. I remember when Ass was a bad thing. And now it's all over the place. I was surprised when I heard it used on soaps.
Anyways, back to the c word. There was a show on VH1 that had a list of the Top 100 things that guys do to make themselves undateable, this was number one. Bad word.

I don't see what the big deal about hell is. It's a place, if I say that j-hole (yes I combined jack a$$ and a$$hole together) should go to hell, I generally mean, yeah go burn buddy. Vandersmut by is one that qualifies for that.

Aw, the deterioration of the language, our wonderful, expressive language. The tolerance of this deterioration is so widespread now that the only cure for it is by example. Hold your breath, all, LOL.
On a much lighter note than the common use of potty language, is my own personal dislike of over-correcting (for example " between you and I") and the lazy use of adjectives, like the word "cute". I suppose it's a step in the right direction if one lowers the bar far enough to allow such bastardizations into common practise, but then again, correct usage is so much easier if only it were taught.
