a momentous moment in history

being a member of the women's lib generation i have to take note of yesterdays swearing of our new female Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.  this is a first in our history.

being a woman & a democrat i'm so proud i could bust.  ms. pelosi seems to be a fine person & an excellent polititian.  i'm hoping she has the wherewithall to pull the democratic party together & get things done.

stepping off my soapbox now lol.

She does seem pretty nice. I remember during elections they mentioned that she may not even be able to make a speech if the democrats won the house, because her daugther could have the baby, and that was top priority. I really admired that, because too many politicians and regular people worry more about work and campaigning than their families. Then at her inauguration when she let all the kids come up, that was pretty cool too. I bet those kids never ever forget that day.

I like Nancy Pelosi. She can be a bit in your face, but the bitch gets things done.

i heard a story that at the beginning of the last election cycle she sat all the dems in the house down & read them the riot act on how to run their campaigns.  most followed her advice & look what happened lol.

i think she's got the perfect mix of steelmagnolia to her even tho she's not from the south.  i think she can get the job done.  sure didn't take her long to throw down the gauntlet.

Woohoo, another "ground-breaking" first woman in job XYZ. I'm sorry, this would actually matter more if women weren't and hadn't all ready been busting those "gender barriers" for the past several years. Good for her, but there's only one problem. Male or female, they're still a politician and therefore.... they suck.

Not all politicians suck, maybe she will do a great job, I have to admit I don't know anything about her!

I don't either, but from what I've seen I am cautiously optimistic as opposed to my norm of being completely synical.
