Weight loss tips.....

I noticed that a few of our posters are mentioning dropping a few pounds.

I've lost 25 pounds in the last three months, without any extra exercise. My secret has been my ciliac diet. I don't eat anything with wheat in it, and it's bizzare how the pounds are melting off. I've gone from 142, to 117, and I'm still losing. Although I need to stop now.

My daughter jokes that I'm on the adkins diet. I've also cut out all soda, and I only drink water these days. I've actually increased my water intake. I purchased a George Foreman grill, and I'm honestly eating more calories these days.

I don't eat any bread, pasta, or breakfast foods that include wheat. I'm also not crazy about rice, so I haven't really been eating that.

My normal day's menu is:
Breakfast: Omlete, either ham and cheese, or sausage and cheese.
Lunch: I don't usually have one, because I'm still full from breakfast, but Il'' get a side of popatoes and veggies, if I'm hungry.
Dinner: Hamburgers (with cheese), grilled chicken, hot italian sausages, grilled boneless porkchop. Any of which are done on my George Foreman. I also have a good sized portion of frozen veggies. I've been on a broccoli and cheese sauce roll lately.
Snack: Bowl of Ice Cream

And that is life with Ciliac, and being glutin/wheat free.

Very interesting!!!

(Jessica, take note.  Remember what I said about wheat allergies?)

Congratulations, by the way, Tess.  That's fantastic, and I imagine that you're feeling very sexy these days...

i dont know that I can go wheat free/. I am going to try and quit eating all the white stuff. White pasta, sugar, white rice...all that stuff.
I tried to quit drinking soda and have found that this is the hardest thing yet. So I have decided that I will "treat" myself twice a month and have a diet pepsi.
I drink water, but I drink a lot of decaf ice tea, sweetened with the pink stuff. Its not water but its made from it.
I spent 35 minutes at the gym today. Not bad considering that I havent truly worked out since like June. I will be going back M-F. So the weight better come off.
I figure 30 pounds by June isnt that hard to ask.

Yup lol there's that wheat again. As soon as I have the baby I am going back on my diet but not as strict as before since I will be nursing and will need extra calories. I cut my calories down to 1200 and was losing the weight so fast it was insane. Couple that with absolutely no soda like mentioned and lots of water with at least one glass of milk each day and I had the perfect diet for myself.

Well I also walked about 3 miles every day too and that was a big benefit.

see...diet pepsi is a weakness of mine...and I really love the diet pepsi from taco bell...grr....and all the doctors say not to deprive yourself or you could snap and binge on it all. I figure once or twice a month is better then once or twice a day like I was doing before....though I have cut out all chips (except if we go to Chili's). Because I cant have just one

I actually stay away from anything with artificial sweeteners. When I was going through the diagnistic phase related to my wheat allergies I read some articles related to some of the GI side effects of artificial sweeteners, and it was pretty scary some of the side affects. They can cause bloating, intestinal irritation and the worst... DEPRESSION!

I'm kind of going with the natural course these days, and if I have the option to purchase organic, that's the route that I'll go. Has anyone ever seen any articles related to the hormones that are given to cows, and how they are secreted in the milk? There are studies that are very interesting related to milk and it's effect on girls development. We even have brands around here, where they only sell milk that has come from cows that have not been given hormones.

Although, noone better mess with my cup of coffee in the morning!

I would love to lose that much weight!  I don't know if I could give up wheat though.  But I don't drink pop, just water, and my morning coffee.

I was on weight watchers once and it worked well, I should try it again.

and I would gladly let you take my daughters from her. The poor little thing is absolutely miserable and I wish that if I could I could just take it from her and be sick myself.

Getting sick never provided me with any weight loss, all that last year's flu gave me was pneumonia, and let me tell you, that combined with the flu was abject misery. I received a flu shot this year, and every time I wanted to whine about feeling achy, I realized that the two day's achiness didn't even add up to a half hour with the flu!

I hope that everyone's feeling better!
