Any Ideas???

So there is an ice storm in Oklahoma, ugh.....today was the 1st day, and it is suppossed to deliever sleet and freezing rain through Sunday....I haven't left my house at all today, and doubt I will until at least Monday!! Libbie, and I are probably going to grow board...we have food and movies and those kinds of things, and provisions in case the ice breaks electical lines, and leaves us without power. Just wondered if anybody had any ideas to keep us from getting too terribly bored!

How old is Libbie?

My husband and youngest daughter skirted the ice storm a bit on their road trip from Virginia to Arizona.  They're currently as far as Dallas, but ran into a lot of rain today.  It may turn to icy rain tomorrow.

I feel for you!

Hmm..well sounds like your good unless power goes out..after that, maybe some colouring or some board games by candlelight! lol  If Libbie is old enough maybe try a card game like crazy eights or go fish or even war...or even get a game of hide and seek going (makes it much tougher yet more fun in the dark!!) But I really hope you dont lose power though, that would suck big time. I hope you have back up for heat, i hate to think of you freezing your buns off.

Well, my husband and daughter had to change their route slightly, and of course I'm going to be on pins and needles all day.  Instead of heading west from Dallas to El Paso, they're going to have to head south first, to Austin, and then cut over to El Paso.  It will probably add about four hours to their trip...

I just want them to be safe.

Minorman, whatever you do with Libbie, make sure that she thinks of the entire experience as an adventure rather than a weather emergency.  If she's old enough to understand the concept, you might be able to pretend that you're like Laura in "Little House on the Prairie", back before there was any TV or electricity.

MIranda lol, I could tell ya what to do first hand especially since on Dec. 5 we went through the same thing except we did lose power, now of course if you don't have power I suppose this won't do you a whole lot of good, but eh I'll post anyways. We kept busy by driving around town and going to restaurants that had hear and such, but we live in a very small town and the roads realy weren't that bad. I hope that you guys keep power and if not stay warm in whatever way you can .

If you can't go out I recommend like everyone else has mentioned, coloring books, crayons, and hck Bethany was happy with a box and a flashlight to play with.

Good luck with everything hon, we were projected to get hit with an ice storm as well even worse than the one in Dec, but we are pretty lucky and didn't get much of anything besides a little ice on the trees. I don't know about the rest of our town, but we still have power and i couldn't be happier.

We are projected to get an ice storm up here tomorrow night, and then into Monday. I will be working from home on Monday if that is the case.

As long as it does not mess with my viewing of the Patriots VS Chargers game tomorrow!

Where are you Tess? The final round of our storm is suppossed to move through late tonight and into tomorrow morning, but it is going to be cold all week, like 16 degrees cold, which is REALLY cold for Oklahoma...Thursday, before the storm came on Friday, it was 65 degrees, the huge changes in temp just kill me, I am sure I will be sick soon. UGH!

Yup that's how it was here in central illinois. It's been gorgeous outside, and then all of a sudden back in december right after a huge rain a cold front swooped and kicked us in the butt. It's pretty much a similar situation now it's been nice and it rained, but it's going to get butt cold again tonight through to monday.

It is raining like crazy here.

The entire back yard is flooded, and the water is creeping up to the back porch. GAH!

The freeze is supposed to move in tomorrow.

I'm in central Massachusetts. We're also supposed to get winter temperatures next week. Darn, we've been so spoiled up here this winter, with above average temperatures, and no snow.

Do you have lots of crafty things to work on, glue, glitter, paper, color books, pretending like you are camping.

Is that what you meant by ideas?

The storm totally missed us!!  Woo hoo

Yeah and we are supposed to get that exact same storm around Sunday... you know if you would be so kind, maybe you could give it the message to skip Taylorville Illinois.

Did you see the story about the deer that was stuck on the ice, the helicoptor "blew" him to safety
